Except Vinós is not a scientist. He's a doctor, a Neurobiologist IIRC. He's a crank. The mechanism behind global warming is well understood and uncontroversial except for cranks, crooks, and the misinformed. There's a reason you'd struggle to find a climate scientist to support his theories...
I'd say that new over used is worth somewhere between €1.5k (minimum!) to €3k.
I don't know anyone who hasn't needed a motor under warranty in the first two years, both Shimano and Bosch. I ride in the UK, and all of us ride in all weathers so lots of wet rides and pressure washing, but still...
Tried to write a response to parts of this thread quite a few times. I keep failing, it's impossible not to come across as unforgivably rude. Utterly depressing on so many levels.
I hope nobody here is directly affected by the impacts of the unusual weather.
I agree with both above that a FS is almost certainly the way forward.
That said, the weight argument is absolute nonsense. An ebike is about 8 kg heavier than a regular bike, or an additional 60% or so. That feels like a LOT when you pick the bike up. It must take a beating, be harder to stop...
I run XT on my ebike and GX on my regular bike.
Shimano shifts a little more smoothly, and the cassette is much lighter and in theory you can replace just the smallest couple of cogs as they wear. I've had problems with having to service and replace the clutch (I ride a LOT in the wet and mud)...
I had '20 Lyriks that were similarly horrible. Both the damper and air spring were faulty as it turned out. Full Factory Suspension got me a new damper on warranty, and when we realised the air spring was dodgy too, I elected to keep the upgraded-for-free damper (one bonus of covid parts...
My Lyriks were garbage from new. The Damper was faulty, so was the air spring, and they had way too much (or too little, can't remember which) grease. New damper on warranty (free upgrade to Ultimate, result!) and a coil conversion from Full Factory Suspension and all is great.
Nobody's angry, but I think we're all finding the process of debating with you slightly baffling. It's like arguing with a five year old, except the five year old might get it.
You have cause and effect all backwards. The shock length has not changed. The shock does not care about the length of...
You're really starting to make yourself look extremely silly here now. Please. Go and read all the posts above and have a think.
The mino link doesn't affect ANYTHING in front of the seat tube. All it changes is the length of the seat stays. That changes the rear triangle geometry, which has...
You have. I thought it was very clear, but apparently not so I had a go. It still appears that neither of us has convinced everyone 🤦♂️.
It's not though is it?
No. Just no. Think about it. The shock has a certain maximum and minimum length. That doesn't change. The linkage has a fixed distance between the main pivot and shock mount, which also doesn't change. Therefore, the relationship between shock and linkage doesn't change with the flip chip.
All...
Had my bike hooked up the other day to remove a service prompt, so can say that I'm 45% Trail, 45% eMTB, and 5% each Turbo and Eco. I'm really not a fan of Turbo unless I'm towing someone on a fireroad. Far too 'boosty', I just don't think it's a pleasant ride (My old E8000 motor was much better...
For boring reasons that are fairly unlikely to apply to anyone else here, we're currently with NFU for home cover that includes my bikes.
NFU were really, really fussy about everything being specified, wanting photos, receipts, and serial numbers, and the policy costs about twice what...
Pedalcover.co.uk - specialist brokers for home insurance that properly covers bikes. They were superb when I had a targeted break-in. Paid out more than £15k on the bikes with absolutely zero hassle. 100% would recommend.
p.s. cover was only about £50 more than just standard household cover...
We did the 2022 event. It was a letdown
There's an incredible number of excellent trails in the Passportes region, the route this year avoided most of them. There was lots of fireroad and road descending, little of interest (apart from consistently stunning, fabulous views) and the food was...
