The SL2 came out before SRAM released the S-1000 transmission, I think that was the deciding factor in getting rid of the shift cable ports on the new Stumpjumper. I see them going the same route though, carbon models will be wireless only and the eventual aluminium versions will have cable ports.
My predictions are no more sidearm to look more like the Levo SL/Stumpjumper 15, no cable ports for shifting so wireless only on the carbon models and an updated motor.
I’ve just seen this but this place was the cheapest I could find when I ordered mine. I got the Epix Pro 47mm for £460. They did have the Fenix 7 Pro for £420 but looks like it’s sold out, all they have left on sale is the Fenix 7X Pro 51mm for £499. They’re the silver colour ones so that may be...
Yep, this is what I was told too. If it can shift as good as their cable stuff I’ll be swapping back to Shimano, otherwise I’ll be staying on the transmission.
The rumour is Shimano has a wireless set up that’s coming soon, supposed to be by the end of the year. I know some brands dropped Shimano all together and are exclusively SRAM now so Shimano has some catching up to do.
I imagine they’ll be doing away with the shifter cable ports on the new Levo too, especially with SRAM releasing the S-1000 transmission. Now even the lowest spec “NX” bikes will be wireless. IMO, shimano needs to release a “real” wireless system if they want to stay relevant.
Not sure if it’s at their booth but the EMBN guy has been showing a few bikes with it. He was hinting around about it coming on some new bikes and would be out soon.
@Bearing Man did you have a chance to look at the new Bosch motor at EuroBike? I’ve seen a few videos and it’s already on a lot of new bikes. The next bike I was looking at is Bosch powered (Crestline), wondering if I should wait on the gen 5 motor before buying anything Bosch powered.
I think we’ll eventually see 90-95% of bikes go wireless, especially with SRAMs new S-1000 transmission. It’s basically replacing the NX stuff that normally comes on the lower end bikes so even those will be wireless.
I seriously want a KSL but want a frame only, I have enough spare parts to build up 2-3 bikes so don’t want a complete build. Only problem is Spesh doesn’t seem to want to put the frame only on sale, I can get the complete S-Works in my size for £6650 but the frame is still £6000! Makes no sense...
My mate’s Heckler is currently in the shop waiting for a motor again, it’s been 3 weeks so far. The UK importer (Madison) has told him a month so we’ll see. The last time they said a month it ended up being almost 3!
I have the Oakley Sutro S and the Jawbreakers that I wear with my half shell helmets and Oakley Airbrake MTB that I wear with my full face. The trail torch lenses are probably the best I’ve used, I’d recommend those if you go with Oakley. I have them in my Sutros and my Airbrake googles but...
Always makes me giggle seeing that Middle Eastern investors want their money, they’re known for not paying what they owe. I used to work with a Mubuadala owned company in the UAE, those guys were notorious for not paying invoices. It got to the point that the US defense company I worked for...
I haven’t installed it yet, just haven’t had time. I’ll update whenever I actually get it on the bike. I should have my man cave finished up within the next week or so, once that’s done I’ll be getting back to my bike stuff.
I don’t blame you guys for not wanting to deal with it. My mate is a Pivot dealer and went through it with the Shuttle SL, he stopped selling the bike. He’s been in business for 15 years and the Shuttle SL is the only bike he’s ever had to refund.
