Hi Duckis, well, as soon as the bike shop techie spoke to Focus and mentioned the rear hub they said straight away that they’d put a new one in the post; and they did. And I’ve not had a problem with it since it was replaced.
If it’s any help at this point I can say that way-back-when in this thread I had the loose nut issue I cleaned the threads, applied blue locktite, discarded the o-ring and tightened up the ring with the help of a blunt object (screwdriver wrapped in cloth) and a wooden mallet; it’s now stayed on...
Get yourself a couple of OS maps: OS21 and OS2 and follow the bridleways; Gisburn Forest isn’t far from Skipton if you prefer man made trails. Ilkley Moor has plenty of tracks. Oxenhope, Haworth and Hebden Bridge gives loads of choice. And of course there’s the Yorkshire Dales on the doorstep...
Sorry about that, I may have misled you on the Shimano part; I just checked mine and the smaller one is in fact just a mini version of the one that’s on for the 29” wheel. I did a search about the ‘net and there’s hundreds of different ones out there but couldn’t see one that matches the Focus...
There’s a lot to be said for using a local dealer. You get a problem with the Cube and have to package it up and send it away the turn around time isn’t going to be less than a week. I’d go with B1rdie’s advice: any warranty problems are easier to resolve when you can look the dealer in the eyes.
New chain regime: I decided not to ponce about with the odd chain here and there, then worry if the rest of the drive chain components needed changing so my new regime is this:
I’ve now bought 10 twelve-speed shimano chains, 40 quick links, four XT cassettes, 20 sets of jockey wheels and two...
I used to have a Shimano EMTB (Focus Jam) and indeed I was able to change the settings of the assistance modes but usually went back to factory settings. My current bike is a Bosch gen 4 and with EMTB mode set it does most of what I need it to do (hills abound where I live!) There is another...
Garry, there are a few things you might need to be aware of, that I’ve seen/suffered with the bike, and a few others have, too:
If the key is a bit tough to get in and out, or to turn, then get some very light oil in there; there is a thread I put up regarding this.
Be very careful/gentle if...
Well my Jam2 goes through all sorts of stuff, too; done a thousand miles on it so far, washed after every ride, the battery connection has never been an issue; and I remove it after every ride. I occasionally squirt some GT85 about the connector but I don’t over do it.
Yeah PR, you’re right, guess I must have crawled out of my shell from the wrong side today. Anyway I’ve adjusted my previous message, it’s much more empathetic now.
That will certainly explain how you could look at the breakout diagrams of the hubs and explain what the differences were; and take it way beyond my ‘O’level technical drawing from way back when; see, I told you you were an expert.
But, I was still confused over the 12/15mm issue but maybe won’t...
