Re Bluetooth problem; can’t remember the symptoms I had but I couldn’t connect when I first got the bike then read that you should delete/forget all your other Bluetooth connections on you phone/tablet, which I did, and then it connected.
Thanks for the replies, guys; I know there are many and varied factors that come into play and having an impact on range. My range has always shown 22/33/44 at the start, it never wavers I’ve got the stock tyres on, they’re not very grippy at all and as I say my pressures are ca 36psi so won’t...
I’m happy now I’ve got a workaround for the cold weather charging issues but my gripe now is the distance that I get out of the bike. It’s a Jam2 6.8 new in August 2019. Tyres pumped up to around 36psi and I weigh about 85 kg. 80% of my rides are off road, predominantly rocks and mud and...
The trouble is, it’s not in my nature to ride slowly, I’m 85kg plus all the kit and caboodle probably takes me up to 90kg. All my rides are over rough pennine tracks, mud and rocks and pretty serious climbing regularly 2,000 ft. My friend on a trek firefly was very surprised when I said ‘well...
Rutland have suggested bringing it indoors as it’s normally charged in my garage as I’d reported the issue to them when the bike wouldn’t start after a cold night - temp down to around zero but not below. In the warmer months I was getting up to 28 miles on the same terrain.
It’s the Focus version of dieselgate!
I’ve yet to try charging it in a warm environment; I’m not sure how warm the battery is 5 minutes after a ride because it’s on charge by then. After charging mine always shows the 44/33/22 so I assume it’s fully charged but the past 4 or5 rides I’m lucky...
I’m not sure if I’m being a bit thick here, but Focus are saying that this test delivered 25 miles at -5°C from the basic battery - in Boost Mode!(I’m not sure how they’ve accounted for the rider and bike weight as it looks like it’s a test lab)
Apologies if this link has already been posted but there’s some interesting stuff on the Focus website: Focus Bikes - HOW FAR CAN I RIDE WITH MY E-MTB?
Particularly if you go down to Temperature?
There’s a reference to charging the battery indoors and as long as you start your ride with a warm...
There is another thread “deep discharging” very similar to this one, I added this to it which might be relevant here:
i checked the charger connection socket on my bike today and the two small pins had patina on and around (same sort of corrosion if you leave batteries installed for too long)...
As I bought it mail order I set the process off online via Rutland’s website, which has proved futile so far. I tried phoning a shop but the guy said he couldn’t do anything because he had no access to my online reference, but he did agree that there has been some problems with power supplies...
It seems that most of us will have different symptoms for what maybe a similar problem but the common items seem to be cold temperature related. I checked the charger connection socket on my bike today and the two small pins had patina on and around (same sort of corrosion if you leave batteries...
It is the 4.5A charger and the bike was new in August 2019. I’m partly happy that I’ve got the work around, thanks to an earlier post on this thread, but I’ll be happier when I’ve got a fix from Rutland or Focus.
I did post this on another thread but it seems more relevant here: my Jam2 has also given me a charging problem, well not exactly as it charged up after a ride but the bike wouldn’t power up; it’s been around zero degrees and bike is in the garage. I put the charger on a hot stove for just a...
I know there’s another thread somewhere referring to cold weather charging but as this one is fairly recent, here goes:
Got all kitted up for a ride yesterday only for the bike not to “start” it had been on charge for a few days since the last ride; solid green light on. I put the bike in the...
Thought I’d better introduce myself as I always refer to this forum for information regarding ebiking. I live in and cycle the West Yorkshire Pennines and have had my my Focus Jam2 for a couple of months now. I turned to an emtb cos the clockwork version was getting a bit tough.......I’m mid...
