20 quid! You can’t get nuffin for twenty quid nowadays, I’d say you got a bargain there Steve. The only downside being you didn’t get the experience yourself, but, I dare say (hopefully) it’ll be another two years or more before they need doing again. Plus you didn’t have to spend £40 or more...
Hi Steve, it’ll be interesting to see a picture of all the bits lined up once you’ve got the new bearings......after all, a picture tells a thousand words.
Now, when you strip down the rear hub don’t be tempted to remove the seal from the freehub to service that, especially as yours has been...
The way I interpret these numbers is that the B12 means a diameter of 12mm and B15 is 15mm, in which case the front bearings will be different to the rear i.e. front has a 15mm hole in the middle and rear has a 12mm hole.....without going out to the bike and pulling things apart I couldn’t be...
I found this as clear as mud but make sense of it:
http://www.nguide.eu/faq/abbreviations-hub-description-explained
it’s an index of the coding of the hub numbers/letters. It may help.
A picture of my hub on 2020 Jam2 6.8: I’m guessing yours might be the same, but at least you can see where the number is. Sorry it’s slightly out of focus.
Hi Steve, when I was looking into my Novatec hub issues this site was quite useful:
http://www.nguide.eu/spare-parts
If you find the breakdown diagram for your hub, note the bearing number then go to spare parts (page 2 onwards gives the bearings) click on your bearing and it gives you the...
Wish I’d have seen this thread a week or so ago; had my Jam 6.8 in dealership for a rear wheel rebuild and new hub (that’s another thread), and the techie give it a test ride and said you’ve got a few squeaks; it’ll cost 60quid to take out all the pivot bolts and regrease them. Being a...
The 2021 model looks to be exactly the same bike as the 2020, looking at the Focus website exploded drawings. Just have to treat that particular bit with kid gloves. No different from the sound of it any other ebike Bosch connector.
I know this is an old thread but I did get a replacement part from the dealer and thinking it was a simple job to replace it.......but, from what I could see there’s a fair amount of disassembly of the internals of the bike to actually install it, so I didn’t bother; until recently when the bike...
Anyway.....finally got my new hub and the wheel rebuilt; Derby/Focus must recognise the issue because as soon as the bike shop techie spoke to them, they said “we’ll put a new hub in the post immediately” no explanation needed.......funnily enough, the techie who rebuilt my wheel has the same...
I had that. It took a week of oiling the key and inserting it; I really did use loads of oil; took the assembly apart, brought it indoors and fiddled with it every day. In my case I couldn’t get the battery in because it had seized solidly. The dealer sent me a replacement lock, which was the...
I’ve got a 2020 Jam2 6.8 Nine and there’s an option to switch to 27.5. You flick a gizmo on the rear to take either size wheel. It also came with a different size disc brake mount. I’m pretty sure the front is a case of simply swapping the wheels. I’m pretty sure it’s the same on the 2021 version.
Cheers CoffeeRoaster, that’s enforced my thoughts on the seal being the main issue, so won’t bother with the 5 pawl upgrade.
Thanks Paul, I did rather lather on the grease this time just to experiment, you’re right the spring does seem a bit flimsy. Today’s short on road ride caused no...
There seems to be two (maybe more) issues being discussed in this thread; but my issue is the freehub pawls “sticking” getting wet or clagged up (only slightly), which causes the awful sound from the rear wheel. It hasn’t fully let me down in that I’ve had to walk home, yet. But, it starts to...
Admittedly I bought my Focus from Rutland via mail order and not from Germany, but when I had a warranty issue Wheelbase, Ilkley were more than willing to help me. They are a Focus dealer which helps. They also have a shop in The Lakes.
