The difference is that your reply is actually constructively saying that.
I’m not a native English speaker, and I think in Norwegian and write too long sentences, but the multiple language hurdles met here because of people with very different native languages meeting in differing degrees of...
Thanks for the elaborate feedback and interesting post. I’m sorry the Doritos and Mountain Dew spills finally killed your keyboard.
In more straightforward terms I’m saying I think it’s hard to decide on the “perfect” emtb going from analog as your preferences might differ quite a lot from...
EDITED: I approached the decision making process of the first emtb with thinking it’s too different from analog (and the motor seemingly a very personal choice) to ever actually be a perfect (or well grounded) choice without riding an available(!) top contender emtb (Levo Comp in my case) for a...
Certainly not ignoring emtbs like has already been said. MAXXIS are one of the most widely specced tire brands in the high-end eMTB sector (MAXXIS E‑Mountainbike Tires in Review | E-MOUNTAINBIKE Magazine)
My 2021 high spec Rocky Mountain Powerplay also came with Maxxis DHF DD and DHR II DD, but...
Oh, I’m not replicating an analog bike, I often ride where I’ve only hiked because I couldn’t ride my analog trail bike there.
On certain trips, in this year coming down again in weight, I just like the resistance of eco (having less assistance) but also a sudden Turbo-boost at certain...
Obviously not, as the ebike is actively trying to lessen the normal external resistance of riding a bike [emoji1] But it’s better than a Kinder egg; has interesting hot technology with apps and never-ending stuff to follow and read deeper about, is a mechanical hobby which demands regular...
Then we’re at least TWO here of the chubby guys pushing 50+ with top-end overkill eMTBs [emoji4]
I hardly care to dominate the trails either (was a joke), and I too ride on low modes to get fitter. I tend to decrease the eco and trail modes over time too. Fun fact: I specifically chose a top...
I think this thread evolved into something else than you think [emoji4]
Anyway, not the “power stages” where motors make the most difference this time? All three power stages had one other motor on 2nd, 3rd or 4th. That would be two times a Brose S Mag and once a Bafang M500(!).
With the...
In that case it wouldn’t only be due to motor inefficiency on Shimano’s side, which I honestly already thought was slightly worse than Bosch. I have nothing to back that up though, other than Bosch being German and having much more fanbois.
But in this case I assume it’s the Shimano battery...
I don’t know if you’ve looked into it already or perhaps just don’t care for them, but Rocky Mountain has a big Powerplay system upgrade (incl new “in-house” motor of the usual 108Nm, integrated display, new app, and 722Wh battery) in the works with an official launch later this sept/oct. The...
I have no horse in this particular race, but Bosch’s new “Smart Bike System” as per sept 2021 allows firmware update via the (new “Flow”) app (and motor tuning). Seems to me Shimano isn’t reading EU law the same strict way Bosch is (eg. if you can trick it to offer power at higher speeds by...
Amen. To prioritizing natural feeling ride (which makes me admit which motor is somewhat important after all, but I’m thinking of my own rides on trails, not professional timed enduro over 7 minutes on the outer limits of the motor «box rules» metrics!). I have no experience with the Shimano EP8...
As 2 out of the last 3 were also Bosch Gen 4 (and 3 of the 4 who did not finish) one could argue “domination” in this case doesn’t *necessarily* mean what the marketing copy implies. Like how Windows dominated MacOS, and Android “dominates” iOS. Or VHS dominated BetaMax if you want to go there...
It’s there. Also, it’s on my bike.
I havent had a bottle cage though. But if I were it seems it must be side loading on account of room. Actually the Syncros Trailor iS 2.0 (with CO2 cartridge and tools) is perfect as side loading and a bit skewered to the right too.
Yeah, well the battery *is* removable, but not Bosch Powertube (eg. Trek Rail) removable. You will have to turn your bike upside down, unscrew and take it out, but it’s doable. Beats having to take out the motor to get at it.
Isn’t a “high pivot style” idler what they had before turning to a...
I have the 2021 RM Instinct PP C90 BC too and have had the original Fox fork mudguard on the 38. Works great. Havent bothered to find anything as elegant on the rear but curious to know of options.
I ordered mine with Ridewrap which is pretty solid and custom cut for the bike. Holds off against...
In my case it’s been the motor mounts every time I have chased a creak over a period of time. I guess the crank area is so central to all tension that it can manifest itself in all directions along the frame and throw you off the scent.
Is anyone else having motor bolts coming loose on a regular basis?
I know you should go over and tighten all bolts to the stipulated torque on a regular basis, or after a particularly hard and long ride, but I wouldn’t expect this often.
I have to tighten the middle bottom one every month when...
Looks like the current battery solution will continue and that there is an Overtimepack version 2.0 of (still) 330Wh which brings the total to a maximum capacity of 1052Wh on a Powerplay for 2022.
This is a much better weight distribution for this much capacity after all, than eg. Norco etc who...
