I am glad that your Flyon is doing well and I hope I have made clear that when there are no glitches the bike is excellent for my purposes too. The climbing capability is truly amazing.
I think part of the problem was that after a very long wait my friend and I had 2 of the very first Flyons...
I don’t remember that. But I do remember copying in line after line of code from magazines.
I also remember, several years later, having a 2400bps modem that cost a month’s salary that was the envy of my friends, Makes emtbs seem cheap:oops:
If you want an easy but really good trail then do the Great Glen Way down the Caledonian Canal. Lovely country and places to stop/eat. If you want a more energetic but historic route then the Corrieyairack Pass (google it) is brilliant and easiest from Laggan to Fort Augustus. Glen Affric has...
I am still annoyed that spares and accessories are not available for the Flyon – and the best the UK dealer can/will say is that they are on order - with no delivery date known. Haibike HQ did not reply.
Given the unwillingness of Haibike to communicate, I contacted two of the bike magazines to...
Mine was c£450 from Halfords in the sales. And it is a seriously good rack. Very quick to fit to the car and both easy and quick to attach the bike. Also folds small.
This information is probably of no interest to all the youngsters on here but older riders might find it useful :)
I carry my bike on the excellent Thule Easyfold towbar rack. Now that I have a heavier Flyon I was finding it a challenge lifting it onto the rack especially as it is a faff...
After putting a bottle of insect repellent back in my rucksack without the lid, and the liquid eating its way through the fabric, I have been very careful what I use.
My main hobby is fishing and there are usually plenty of midges around. Skin so Soft is what I use and it is pretty effective. It...
Went for a short run this morning including a very steep hill.
I really think there is even more hill-climbing power than before; amazing.
But, perhaps because it is working harder, the motor seems quite a bit noisier. Also, one of my original comments was how easy it was to pedal the bike...
I have not had time to use mine, but my friend did 10 miles on his yesterday. His bike worked, as far as he could tell, exactly the same as before the update.
I am no longer sure how much to blame the software itself for our problems. Apparently, his fatal error was caused by him having...
Well, we got our bikes back today with many apologies from the bike shop.
My friend’s “fatal error” and refusal to start was caused by having pressure on a pedal when switching on the power. That might well have happened the first time, but we were holding the bike when we tried a further dozen...
Not sure if it is the same dropper as on the Alltrail Flyon that I have, but mine works easily (as does the one on my friend’s Alltrail).
I would be very interested to hear if you get any software problems such as those I have posted in another Haibike thread.
I emailed Haibike UK asking when parts and accessories for Flyons would be available (some ordered 18 months ago)! The complete response cut and pasted:
Thank you for contacting Haibike UK, were are waiting for stock for spares we do have all the parts on order. As soon as they arrive your...
I quite agree our usage is pretty niche and when not planning to lug kit up steep hills I prefer to use my old Hardseven. I cannot imagine that many “normal” emtbers would really need the power and low gears.
Regarding support. My excellent dealer has been mortified by the initial delays and...
I well understand your point regarding the perils of being early adopters but my friend and I could not wait as advancing years mean we needed better climbing bikes now to continue with our hobby of fishing high hill lochs.
On Friday we were out on a well known to us track that climbs 1000ft in...
