I should be grateful for some tyre advice, and I promise I have already read the ultimate tyre thread but although I learned a lot it left me no wiser what tyres would be best for me.
My Haibike Alltrail 6.0 came with 27.5x2.8 Maxxis DHF and DHR tubed tyres. They seem fine but I have a £150...
Sorry to hear this. Not a problem I have experienced with either of my Haibikes but I have read of others with creaks that were cured by tightening bolts. Although with such a new bike I would let the seller sort it even if it has to be returned for service.
No gps links as such. But from Invergordon I would think of a run up Strathconon or, a bit further, Glen Affric. Both have stunning scenery and plenty of paths off the narrow roads. There are some good trails north of Ardgay towards Carbisdale Castle and through the forests. You will be spoilt...
To beat the expected rush, I bought my Haibike Flyon without a test ride based upon reviews and manufacturer’s specs. It was a gamble but it paid off. However, during the long saga of Flyon delays it become apparent to me that few, if any, magazines will criticise a manufacturer. So if buying...
Sorted. The problem was not the speed sensor disk but a very slightly warped brake disk. The brake disk was replaced and both the original and the replacement speed sensor disks now work properly.
I have previously mentioned that I use my bike as a “pack horse” with front and rear panniers. I have an Old Man Mountain front pannier which is excellent (if expensive!).
OMM have just sent me an independent review of one of their panniers fitted to a FS bike...
Thanks Jetpilot. I am hoping there are lots of Flyon owners on the board but that their bikes are operating perfectly (as did my first Haibike)! Because, this fault aside, the Flyon is ideal for my use.
Having examined my and my friend's identical bike and with the benefit of some advice from...
Back in February when out in the hills, the speed sensor failed on my Alltrail 6 with the message: "Warning Speed Sensor. Speed sensor problem. Power reduced".
My LBS said the disk had warped and fixed the problem although I subsequently realised something was still not right as the motor...
I would buy the same bike again but what I now know is the importance of purchasing from a GOOD local bike shop. Teething problems with my second bike would have been a total nightmare without their support.
Things might have changed since I researched the issue thoroughly before fitting solar panels to my boat, but all the reviews and dealers then recommended rigid or semi-rigid ones for both longevity and best output. My friend’s panel is rigid and is mounted on the van’s roof where it just works...
A friend has one fitted in his motor home to charge his and his wife’s bike. He has a 350 watt solar panel that feeds a leisure battery. Then a cheapo inverter (ie, not pure sine wave) connected to the leisure battery with the bike’s charger plugged into the inverter. It works perfectly and has...
Thanks. It did fail (when I was miles from my car!) and caused the motor to cut out. My LBS repaired it but perhaps not perfectly. Thanks for this suggestion.
My friend and I have ‘identical” Alltrails delivered the same day.
Hard to be certain because at the moment we are not following the same routes, but I am pretty sure his bike has a greater range than mine despite him being considerably less fit than me, and his bike providing assistance to...
Under lockdown I am only doing about 7 mile runs daily each with a total ascent of 820 ft – some really steep off-road climbs so using “high” at times.
I can easily manage 4 such trips on one charge with my Alltrail 6.0 so say 28 miles with a total climb of 3200ft, and 20% battery left.
I am...
I suspect the bike is capable of doing so. Not quite so sure about me!
Seriously, in my various posts since I got the Alltrail 6 I have lauded the bike with its massive power for my specific requirement but I would not suggest it is the right choice for everyone. And the difference in weight...
I don’t have this issue on my Alltrail 6. And I rode my friend’s Alltrail 6 yesterday (looking to see if he had a motor fault like me) and I am sure his bike was not creaking either- in fact it was really quiet.
I don’t disagree with this for most people, but for older or less strong individuals the extra kilos can make a big difference if you have to lift your bike over a gate or stile.
