I changed the seatpost on my one77 from 150mm to 180mm from Oneup, I think V2. My fattie acted as a donor, 150mm is enough for that bike. Also the dropper lever had to go, since fattie had nice Paul Comp lever. 👍

I built my first ever wheel. And it's almost round. Took the hub from my broken wheel & laced it to a spare 27.5 rim from an old bike. It's built but not tensioned or trued, more of a can I do it? than a serious thing but if I can get it right, I'll run it on the bike as a mullet & see how it goes.

So I finished the wheel. Behold my - definitely sending this into GMBN - uber bodgey truing stand, consisting of the wheel upside down in the bike & two cable ties. Believe it or not, it trued up laterally & radially beautifully, so I put a tyre on, set it up tubeless & stuck it on the bike.

Downsides, I only have a front tyre in 27.5, so that will have to do for now, I forgot to swap the magnet over, so got a 503 error on the bike & I can't find the brake mount to use the flip chip, so it's running in the high position but otherwise, it's all good.

A worthy investigation when you hear a creak like that. Any type of weird noise while peddling triggers my search for the source. Glad you caught it before anymore damage occurred.

Sometimes it’s not the cost of parts but rather the downtime …which could take months. Those brackets are notorious for coming loose and ignoring that noise or sound can be costly.

Sheared bracket bolts are almost impossible to remove from a magnesium casing. Thanks to the Motor Repair Centre a replacement cost my buddy $110. His downtime on the bike can’t be measured though.

We bought it. And one for the wife. Gotta love Cyclescheme and Green Commuting Initiative. YT even honoured the new price on the Decoy MX Core 1 (sale started a few days afterwards) and let me top up my order with £500 of spare parts and clothing. My wife’s hadn’t been authorised by her employer yet so she just reordered and got a Core 3 instead.

The downside is we’ll be a pair of saddo’s with his n her bikes!

I did that when I swapped out a couple of hubs on a pair of wheels last year. Had it running lovely and true in the frame ....until I realised I hadn't set the dishing. Luckily I was watching a Berm Peak vid on YT a few days later and he made use of the ultimate home made wheel dishing jig, three tin cans of the same brand and matching height (baked beans) and I used a salmon can with a stack of washers to centralise the centre line of the hub in relation to the centre line of the rim. Worked a treat.

Part-striped & drained upper-leg* oil from my new Manitou Dorado forks, tomorrow I'll reduce the travel from 203mm to 180mm (what Norco recomend and warrant the frame with) and general inspection with new lighter upper-leg* oil

*upper-leg oil as the Dorado's are inverted / upside-down so bath-oil is in their carbon-fiber upper tubes:cool:

Having stopped for a snack on the outskirts of Slaley Forest yesterday I took my sunglasses off and rested them on the top of my back pack slightly inside the pack itself ..at the next gate stop I realised I'd forgotten to put them back on ..but surprise surprise they weren't there .
I simply couldn't be arsed to scour the 2miles we had covered searching for them on a dense Heather clad trail ..and a new upgrade was long overdue ..
Hopefully these will help me to avoid so many tumbles off the bike too ..😂
Being Deathray I'm looking forward to using the laser beam on any roadie Pelton I encounter while travelling in the car on our narrow country roads ..😉

Oops ..should be in the " what did you buy " thread ..

I went for a ride on Wednesday and got about 100m up the road and the bike would not alter the power so was stuck on boost mode 🤔
It then turned itself off and generally started to act like a twat!
It was working fine the night before so after a bit of fiddling it was looking like loose wires on the Bosch kiox head unit.
Seeing as a fair bit of my working life as a mechanic involved sorting out vehicle electrics, I got stuck in and did some stripping down and resoldered a couple of broken wires back onto the head unit 👍
Resulting in the bodge of the day until I can get another wiring loom from Germany 😁

Woah, that thing is destroyed, shopping time. Meanwhile, here at Rusty towers, I'm balls deep into taking the gearbox off my daughter's s**tbox Toyota Yaris before it starts raining, we should swap notes 😂

@RustyMTB Good man! (y)

My days of DIY car maintenance are well behind me. I can remember when you could lift the bonnet (the hood to those from the colonies) and not only see the ground but could stand in there next to the engine (well, almost!). Now with all the emissions control kit and safety covers, I can't even see which side of the engine has the spark plugs. (And yes, it is a petrol engine). :)

If anyone wants a set of car ramps, never raced or rallied, only ever used on a Mini (the original Mini, when it really was small), then they can have them for free! They have followed from house to house and are just cluttering up the garage.

Come on man and pull your finger out, your supposed to be on a bonus system 🤣🤣🤣
Btw is this the point where you find out the duel mass flywheel is fubared😱
Normally I discover that the anti-floggilating mechanism needs a removal tool that is now only made in China. It is really cheap, but will take 16 weeks to get here and the minimum order is twenty! :(

After yesterdays ride when a parachute was optional 🤣 on some trails
No front brake after ahem fitting new rotors and then cleaning the slightly sticky pistons and sanding the pads. under no circumstance could I get them to bed properly so was more cautious

Fitted some new pads today and cleaned rotors bike now stops to a degree just need to bed in now
also modified some sram bleed blocks for the Magura mt7 so I can block 3 of the pistons and only 1 comes out had to make 2 opposites as the way the caliper is constructed works perfect though
