I feel stocking sufficient motors at least in every sales region/country would be far more helpful then extending the warranty.
There's just no pleasing some people :)

I'm sure their intention is to have both, they ideally aim to replace in under three days - there isn't another vendor which gets even close to that aim (obviously with massively increased Covid market demand and reduced staff availability for the same reason, they're not always hitting these targets)

The second part can be done easily by just changing the information on their databases.

The first part takes time to build up stock of UPGRADED motors in the various regions, they don't just magically appear in a couple of weeks.

I am assuming that I will get an updagraded/fixed motor, but I get a little worried when I read comments from others on this website that they have had three, even four, motors replaced. Yikes!

But this was before improved motors were available. No one seems to report that motor which was replaced in last few months has failed ...

My motor, on TL Comp, has gone after 1 year and 3000km.
85kg rider, mostly trail and turbo
First signs where sporadic cricketing noise under load for maybe 500km before, then late power disengaging last 50 km and finally whining noise as result of broken belt or tensioner.
New motor came in 3-4 working days here in Croatia.
Installed same day by my LBS here in Sibenik, Iljadica -Rapo. Thumb up.
New motor has date 06/2020.
New motor is very silent, power is same, more refined.
Walk assist mode must be fix for me to be able to go upstairs back home.

Mine has started that cricketing noise under load, but only in Trail - or Turbo mode. Ridden only about 1000 km, because half of my kilometers come with my mtb bike.

So it's not end of the world if it's broken, still have two bikes as a reserve.

Hello, i own a Levo comp carbon 2019. It is on the second motor, installed oct 2019. At the moment it is at the dealer for a service. I ride a 27,5" wheel in the back, so LBS changed wheel circumference from 2300mm to 2040mm last year.
My LBS said, after the new motor update it is no longer possible for him to change wheel circumference with dealer software. I dont believe that. Can somebody confirm this? Thank you

I confirm, change to 2000mm is still possible with new firmware.

Yesterday motor failed and got classic belt slipping sound. Took it to my LBS where I purchased and have to wait 5 days just for them to run a diagnostic. They don't seem well versed in ebikes as they said if they can't fix it, they'll have to ship the whole bike to Specialized. Not looking forward to being with a bike for a month.

Jeez, that's seems a bit rough! No other Specialized dealer close by? What country is this?
Most people seem to be getting their bikes repaired in less time than you just getting diagnosed....

Yup thats not great, worth emailing Specialized to see if they can help; or maybe another bike shop if you have one around?

Really poor service from your lbs, shouldn't really be selling them if they can't fix them

What I initially did as I was 3 hours away from LBS, is send a video of the problem, purchase date, model, serial number of motor (mission control) and bike (frame) and this was enough and accepted by Specialized, it It took around 5 working days to get approved and a new motor sent to LBS.
There is nothing to fix it is a swap of motors and this took around three hours to do.

Which is why I have been trying to communicate with @Specialized Rider Care as myself a number of my friends have gone through the same experience as you with the 1.2 and 1.3 motors but unfortunately it appears my questions or suggestions are only getting ‘selective’ responses.

Specialized have done the ‘right thing‘ with the 2.1 motors.
How about doing something similar for the 1.2 and 1.3 motors?
It does not have to be the same as the 2.1 motors but something a lot less than a £500 plus bill would be a much more acceptable pill to swallow especially if the motor was, on inspection, due to a design fault and NOT rider abuse.
Any chance of a response @Specialized Rider Care ?

Hi mate all good and well down in sunny, well sort of sunny Wales.

First of all, I want to make a very clear statement about the Specialised Levo's I have owned.
Simple really, I love them, I loved my 2017 and I also love both of my 2019 Levo's. For me personally they tick all the boxes that need to be ticked apart from their reliability which has now been addressed on the 2019 model but unfortunately not for the customer base of the 2016, 2017 and 2018 1.2 and 1.3 models.
You are I are fine we both have 2019 year models. However, I have a number of friends on the older models who I have spoken to and they are feeling left out in the cold by Specialed even more so now that Specialised have made the announcement for the 2.1 engines.
To be honest, I would be feeling the same way as every single one of them has had a motor fail on them. Me personally, I had 2 motors fail on my second hand 2017 Levo and the previous owner had a failure before he sold it to me so 3 motor failures in less than 2 years of joint ownership is not good so I can understand their anexity.

Yes, Specialised offer a discounted assisted motor purchase which for me cost £450 for the motor and £50 to fit in 2018 but it is still a big pill to swallow on a bike that had covered less than 900kms at the time on an already replaced motor. By the way the motor failed again less than a year later with 2000km on the clock.
I replaced the 2017 with a 2019 thinkng I would get the much publicised 'improved motor' only to find I was in the same position as before.... failed motor after failed motor.

It is only with people like Chris at Bershire cycles supporting my 2 x 2019 bikes that I still have a Specialised. His customer service has been second to none and Specialized really need to understand how important a role he has played in saving a lot of their customer base from leaving. They owe him more than a couple of beers and I hope they have and are still recognising what he and the people that work for him contribute towards Specialized‘s success in the UK.

I think what would assist these 1.2 and 1.3 owners is for Specialized to engage with Brose to open more doors up for people like @Bearing Man so he can get access to the motor parts he desperately needs at a discounted cost so he can repair the 1.2 and 1.3 motors at a price a lot less than the £500 quoted above. I know for a fact he struggles to get parts to repair his engines. Opening the door to the Brose 'Spare parts bins' will be a huge step forward and be a more cost effective way for the 1.2 qnd 1.3 motor owners to fix their failures. On top of that @Bearing Man will be able to report back to Brose and Specialized with long term analysis of what parts are actually failing.
Any chance of a response @Specialized Rider Care ?

Yesterday I went for my second bike ride with the new SW 7.3.6 and new Motor date 20.06.22 (is the third motor). Running on all support levels eco/trail/power with high cadence.

Here is my feedback:
Read blue flickering, power off/on fixed it, did not happen again.
Motor sound louder than the old ones. (feeling)
Running on low battery power under 20% a big assistance support drop. Under 10% (red) the motor even starts almost to brake! (no free running) at least that was the feeling.
Finished with 5% power and was glad that to get home was only downhill ! :)

I'm still on the older firmware, but I notice a drop in support once the battery hits 30%
That doesn't sound right, according to manual support reduction starts from 15% battery remaining...

For those of you who are reporting power drop off at 30% 20% 10% before and after firmware changes. I think you're going to have run blevo or MC and actually monitor either Amps or Watts of motor power compared to rider power as you ride. Otherwise it's just "feeling" .

If I've had a beer or a pack of Haribo my bike produces 150% more turbo power than normal when fully charged. But then rapidly drops off to only about 20% of it's normal power after about 25 minutes.
