Upgrading?
mine are still original and have done 1500+ miles and are still fine.
If I were to replace them I'd go with the same cassette and a chaper chain
11/46?
I'm on my second set now and running good, just have a £10 voucher t use and saw an offer of cassette & chain for £80ish
Remembered I used sram x1 chain last time but out of stock now.
Typical...

That’s not good! Will give mine a closer look later but I think it looked ok despite the foam wrapping being a bit shoddy and the end of the box being fully open when it was delivered and the small box inside with the instructions etc being broken with all of its contents scattered around the inside of the big box!!!

Did yours not come with small vials of touch up paint - mine did or that’s what I assume they are. Green and black.

Also came with 2 keys, 2 Rockshox tokens, crappy pedals, bell, front and rear reflectors and the plastic cassette guard, some frame protector stickies, 2 cable connectors to tie the computer cable to a hose and the battery charger - think that’s it from memory.

As there wasn’t a ‘what’s in the box’ list am I missing anything that may have fallen out of my box? ?

I got the same except no touch up paints, no keys, no cassette guard, no frame protection stickers. What you've not listed is the charger adaptor for the other style battery (large 4 pin thing), wheel refactors, manuals for everything and of course the charger.

I've decided to send it back and await a replacement. I now think it was damaged in transit. I think the fault is the way they have the bars wrapped around the frame with no protection over the controls, it's been bashed bout in transit and they impacted the frame (it lines up with the shifter mount as shipped so not padding those is the root cause coupled with heavy handling). You probably cant tell in the photo but the metal is scoured also.

So to those asking.. it's a large and may become available discounted but with that level of damage I'd doubt it tbh unless they replace the front triangle. I'll sort out the return this week.

Just to add to this my mate ordered one of last year's deore spec a while back -it was quite badly gouged when delivered and they offered him either 50 or 100 quid discount and wouldn't budge. He sent it back and got another one, they then listed it on Wiggle's Ebay clearance account and it sold for about £2100 from memory which was an insane bargain. So worth keeping an eye on there in the coming weeks if you're after a deal

In terms of cassettes and chains My 11 speed XT seems way more prone to jamming up with vegetation that the 10 speed on my mate's E-Sommet. I don't think the smaller gaps help but reckon the worst culprits are the slotted jockey wheels, I might change them.

I've come round to thinking cheap and robust is best for ebikes. Just use a bit of mechanical sympathy and don't shift under heavy load. SLX cassette either 11-42 or I guess if you do a fair bit of steep climbing and want to run eco as much as possible for range then 11-46 might be the way to go. I almost bought a bike with the SRAM EX1, bloody glad I didn't now!

Mine came with a chip on the headtube. I got £200 ish, which paid for my Di2 upgrade and they sent a paint touch up kit with the black and blue paints.

No. The 11-42 that it came with. it's a M7000 SLX and they're about £45 at CRC
No point spending more than £15 on a chain either. Just buy a SRAM PC1130
£80 is an odd deal

Thanks @RocketMagnet . I got those items and also received a free multi-tool with the order.

Funnily enough, about the only thing that was wrapped properly on mine was the shifters/grips on both sides as there was nothing on the forks, shock or most of the frame. Some inconsistent packing going on at Wiggle/CRC ?

Well it's going back and it's being collected on Thurday.
20181217_165547.jpg

How the bike was received minus the front wheel holder. No packaging on the controls, if there had been the damage wouldn't have happened.

VESVR_Packaging.jpg

You can see the cause... the silver clamp from the shifter. All for the sake of a couple of minutes and some bubble wrap.

To be fair to Wiggle as soon as I uploaded the above pictures no hassle. Just seems like a month or two wait for a replacement... I waited for my SC Hightower LT CC for 4 months I can wait for this.

Hi . Had same with mine . When I clocked the huge holes in the box , I was just a bit gutted !
Luckily just the steerer cap marked . No other marks . Plastic pedal did snap first time out .
Vitus thicker cardboard , bubblewrap etc and you be golden ( or green ).
Wiggle been great though IMG_20181216_151422407.jpg IMG_20181216_135543967.jpg IMG_20181216_135543967.jpg IMG_20181216_151409911.jpg IMG_20181216_135449548.jpg IMG_20181216_151351747.jpg IMG_20181216_151422407.jpg , sending nukeproof cap replacement and aluminium pedals .
Brilliant bike , luv the looks .
Do like a bit of green !

Yeah the top cap on mine was damaged identically. At some point it's been upside down through the spin cycle of the delivery companies.

I genuinely didn't think people really ever used those pedals, i'd have them as a second spare in the van as a loan set.. clearly just to that guy who always forgets stuff :)
I wasn't fussed about the Topcap as I was going to change it anyway.

Really surprised how it's packaged. I understand people want it built up but personally they could box up the bars and controls and id fit it all myself. Then again based on my experience they wouldn't bother to seal the boxes but just let the items go "free range" in the big box anyway.

This issue is easily avoidable with proper protection, a packaging check sheet and safety check list etc... peanuts in costs/labour and doesn't harm your reputation as a business.

Bike is really nice BTW .. for and Ebike that is and the paint job is really good especially for the price. Having looked the bike over upgrades are/will be, Replace the Shifter it does work fine but feels terrible compared to XTR and Eagle on my other bikes. Replace the dropper lever with a spare Wolftooth, change the Saddle and the grips to Revgrips, may stick a Transfer dropper on also but the cheapo on fitted seemed ok actually… basically changing the points of contact. Also got a spare Santa Cruz Carbon 800mm sitting in a box I may stick on.

Not tried it but I usually find Guides a bit weak, got some guide Ultimates and never been impressed... but hear they are variable out of the box so luck of the draw?.

W013 – Initialization of torque sensor not completed successfully

Restrictions:
Power assist may be lower than usual.
Remedy:
With foot off the pedal, press battery power button and turn on power again. If no improvement, contact place of purchase.

Basically it sounds like when you turn it on it's calibrating the Zero point so if your applying any/too much Torque it thinks there is something wrong.. hence error code.
If your stationary for a bit it auto turns off so perhaps its when you turned it back on with a foot on the pedal?

Your also mixing up Error Code E013 with W013.

I did not keep count of the number of damage problems, but is seems quite a few. It would be interesting to know how many Wiggle / CRC actually shipped in the first batch so we could get an idea of failure rate. It would also be interesting to know whether anyone from Vitus / Wiggle / CRC, who is involved in the supply of these bike, reads this forum. if they do, let's hope that they can give feedback to their supply chain to fix the issues with packaging. I am waiting for the second batch to be released next year and really hope that the problems are fixed

Never personally ever had a pivot bolt come loose in >20 years of FS bikes but probably because I regularly maintain and Torque them up properly including Loctite where applicable. Clearly I'd just do it by hand at the trailside if one ever did come loose.

As for assuming its all properly assembled.. I'd rather check tbh. Also knowing how your bike goes together is knowledge for trailside that can help you avoid a 15 Mile walk :).

The SC Hightower LT varies from 9Nm all the way to 20Nm. I've seen similar linkage bikes in the same range also, I've done a friends Giant and its a similar linkage so ill have the values somewhere for that.

Could definitely do with exploded diagrams, surprised they aren't on the Vitus site as they will already exist.
Some exploded diagrams and torques here - http://si.shimano.com/pdfs/dm/DM-E8000-02-ENG.pdf

Got a few sets of Guides too. The Guide RS rather than ultimates though (I've no experience of those) and they're not comparable with the REs. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the extra power the old Code caliper gives over standard guide calipers although maybe not if you're used to the immense power of Saints or something.

If you're "upgrading" I'd be interested in buying your REs for one of my DH bikes if the price is right.

It costs money so it will be definitely be monitored and they will have a metric they have to meet. Mine was shipping damage caused by a combination of poor packing and rough handling. I have fed back where the packaging can be improved, but possibly it's just holiday staff helping out with poor training?

Shipping damage occurs that's just a fact of life but I was annoyed there was no safety check list in the box, that's really shoddy and possibly a factor for the minor setup faults on the bike I received.

Ultimately if your bike turns up damaged don't accept being fobbed off with token gestures or the poor service will just continue.

Had a good look over the bike and it's all really solid, welding looked really tidy and no flex with all the pivot bolts done up correctly. The previous talk about the Green/Red/Black combo is from pictures and not a true representation of the bike. The colour depth is really impressive actually. So like you Master Link I'm waiting until next batch also.

Apparently the linkage is a slightly modified Sommet/Escarpe, the only slight difference is the upper shock mount has changed slightly but the Torques and bearings are the same (direct from Vitus Tech support). They are sending me the Engineering Drawings for these.

Yeah not tried them so don't know yet, the bikes really heavy so braking performance is a big consideration. They are the same pads as my Ultimates and I've got the bleed kit so nice to have cross compatability, assume they use the bleeding edge tool. I'd have definitely bled the brakes out of the box if I was keeping the bike also. They rear felt hand ok stationary but I think front would have benefitted from a bleed.

Very informative reply, thanks. First thing is to get the bike. I am checking CRC and Wiggle daily as you never know when the second batch might arrive. Then it’s fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed that mine arrives in good condition. I suppose it’s at least easier to deal with Vitus (CRC / Wiggle) then with Canyon.

I will have a look on their website to get the torque settings.

Only option would be a return or second hand pre 2019... obviously you don't want mine :)

Anyway this is what Vitus had to say about E Sommet VR stock:

"The stock is not held here with ourselves. This goes direct from the manufacturer out to the retailers. We are working hard to have more stock with our retailers in the early new year. However we do not have a confirmed date for this."

So there you go, Vitus don't touch the bikes at all, they go direct to CRC/Wiggle (Same thing and same place for bike stock) from where they are made (far east probably).

Really surprised they don't carry spares, I couldn't even get a replacement front triangle as Vitus don't carry them as that's the suppliers responsibility. Price you pay for buying like this I suppose.

@RcketMagnet: Wow! That’s not great, but I suppose it’s one of the ways they keep costs down. If only Canyon were not unreliable with delivery and Specialized were not so overpriced I might be tempted to spend my hard earned pounds elsewhere. The VR is such great VFM that I will hang on and hope. If one just totals the retail cost of the components then your basically almost getting the frame for nothing. If a frame is irreparably damaged then worst case scenario might be to buy a frame from another manufacturer and transfer the components. Let’s hope we never have to resort to this option.

Yeah it's superb VFM but you don't get that for nothing. Ultimately it's early cycle so perhaps spares are not the priority ATM. Yeah all the components are standard and nothing bespoke like the Specialised so component stripping is an option, but seems like the major manufacturers want closed systems.

Don't be put off the bike what I saw of the Vitus was indeed very nice and it was the seller that messed up the packaging.... compared to a 5K Al Specialised I looked at yesterday I'd pick the Vitus anyway. No bottle cage but the battery is down low and the downtube isn't massive to accommodate the battery. The Specialized did look good but no way would you ever think it was a normal bike even with a cursory glance.

Yeah I priced up the Vitus and they must be getting a phenomenally good rate for all the componentry, very little in the way of compromises and they must have a narrow margin. The Specialized is the opposite IMO.

So yeah the Vitus E Sommet VR 2019, I wasn't disappointed with the bike it looks awesome, hence why i'm waiting for more stock and didn't buy a Specialised yesterday.

Haven't touched mine. 1500+ miles with lots of steep DH/Enduro tracks and only just replaced original the rear pads original fronts are still in there and performing fine. lever bite point is consistent too (something I can't say about any standard guides I've had)

rough handling.
This is the biggest problem. I watched the dickhead who collected mine to go back for warranty throw the (packed by me) box on it's side into the back of a half empty Luton van before I had time to mention I'd have given him a hand to lift it in.
I'd expect CRC/Wiggle to claim against the courier for damages. but who knows.
