Anyone tried the RaceFace Era carbon bars? Wondering how they compare to OneUp. Had RF carbon bars before and the top coat literally marked up if you looked at it angrily!

Going to hopefully get the Yari debonair with its new charger 2.1 RCT3 fitted this weekend. I know the RC2 is probably the better upgrade but I got the RCT3 off a mate for next to nothing. I think it will feel like a huge improvement over the Gold RL.

Total upgrade (including sale of the old fork) was £150 which I feel should be money well spent.

Shout out to TF Tuned for the oil
Kit and sending me a couple of new crush washers from the workshop as they are not sold separately.

From Simon on the EXe owners page on Facebook

I've come across some unconfirmed rumors about the new Trek EXe model:
• Battery: Main models get a 580Wh battery. Cheaper versions get 360Wh, but can be upgraded to 580Wh.
• Frame: Looks similar to Trek Slash E but without high pivot. Carbon frame only—no headset angle adjust like the current alloy version.
• Sizing: XXL frame size will be added.
• Suspension: 160mm front travel. Some models will use a new Fox shock, not yet released—visually similar to the Specialized Genie shock.
• Motor: New TQ motor with 60Nm torque. Same size/weight as current 50Nm motor.
• Backwards compatibility: New 60Nm motor can fit current EXE frames. Just needs a firmware update. Same battery life expected. No confirmation if Trek/TQ will sell it as an upgrade.

Can anybody confirm or deny?

Everyone is going to 60nm and I think its the sweetspot for Lightweight EMTBs. Rest sounds good

If it gets deleted then it would just confirm that there's some correct info in there.

Sounds like a reasonable update to the bike. Would be good if the power increase is just firmware and could be applied to existing bikes rather than needing a whole new motor, but can't see that happening, even though bosch did it with the cx gen 4.

Has anyone installed the AXS Transmission drivetrain as an aftermarket upgrade on the Fuel EXE? I'm asking because in the setup app when I put in the specific brand, model and size, the app tells me to use 'Setup Key" B. But just for the hell of it I entered the bike's measurements manually (chainstay length, etc) and the results there told me to use Setup Key A. Only two different options for me to try, so not a huge deal to try both and see which one works better. I'm just wondering if anyone else has already done this and can save me a few minutes. My bike is a size Large, by the way. Thanks.

I sure hope they don’t change the frame for the larger battery downtube. The beauty of the EXe is that’s is stealth. If anything, I would hope they went smaller on the downtube. The Slash is to big. I am ok with the 50nm motor, it’s more than enough power for me.

In Southern California many of the trails are E-bike illegal. The Trek EXe can pass as an analog bike. I believe many of these bikes sell for this reason. My hopes is they continue to move towards more stealth

I am sure there are many endurance riders or riders that do longer rides/races.
I am wondering, if riding properly setup Fuel EXE, lightest custom edition, basically same build as your race XC bike just with extra motor and battery but WITHOUT range extender; if this e-bike would be helpful to finish say 100 mile race (or 62mile ~ 100km) easier than the analog bike... say SM100 race.

* Analog bike - 120mm travel fork, carbon wheels- endurance build... max 24lb
* Fuel Exe with same lightweight wheelset and tires, 150mm lighweight build mostly carbon- at say 34 lb

Edit:
Let's say, a rider is fit enough and can finish the race on analog bike in 9h..
So I wonder if Fuel EXE is used here would be a help in this quest or there is no way this bike could last the duration of the race even if assistance used sporadically and the bike would be more of hindrance due to weight after battery runs out.

Has anyone setup/ used Fuel EXE that way?

Let's say finish time is not as important.

Assume finish time/ riding time 9h.

I have my 2023 set up for XC. I am a bigger guy at 230 pounds. I only use ECO mode, I have my power turned down to 95% and my assist turned down to 100%. I am in Southern California, Orange county the trails have elevation changes throughout In a 25 mile ride, I will ascend 2500 feet. With this setup, I can only get 28 miles from the Battery. I am doing a 50 mile ride next fall, and plan to swap the main battery at half way.

I’m 215 pounds and reckon I could get around 30 odd miles at my current weight and fitness.

Currently aiming for around 195-200 pounds as my extra weight and lack of fitness definitely has me using more power. Should be a fun summer once I get the new fork on. No idea what the bike weighs.

Deore cassette is heavy I know but no point changing that out until it wears out to be honest.

I purchased a Trek Fuel EX-e 9.9 XTR (2023) just before summer last year at a good price.

Wanted to install a 95% frame protection before I started using it for real and picked it all apart to make the job easy.

Then life happened and it is still in bits and pieces.
Eventually got the frame protection installed though.
Problem now Is that I don’t remember where all the parts go.. 😂

I’ve got the service manual but i.e. the headset installation is not covered.

I have read through (skimmed) this whole thread so I have an idea of how this bike is to be maintained, and how to deal with some of it’s quirks.
I ordered a new bottom bolt from Pinner Machine Shop (thanks for this tip) for the shock for instance, and will change them rusty bolts for the chain guard.

A new top cap for the stearing tube will also be ordered soon, as well as a new trigger for the seat post.
Any suggestion? I hate the stock trigger.

I love the bike though.
The little time I used it was a blast.
Everything I hoped it would be, and I am so looking forward to get it back on the trails.

One other question.. Trek states that it can’t be used in low temperatures.
How low is it possible to go?

I just ordered the 50rise from PNW yesterday. Might be a return in my immediate future, I’d prefer the OneUp brand. I’m curious, has anyone installed the V2 E-bike bar with the power wire through the bar on the EXe?

I have borrowed my mates 760 cut down oneups and felt good as just get on with 760. So these new 760s be perfect.

I think it may have been mentioned that the power wire end is slightly too big for V1 bar. Not sure if same on V2.
