They are a nightmare to ride, loads of pedal strikes, and the bottom bracket is so high I need a ladder to get on the seat. but the leverage is amazing ?

Good point! Seems like an ideal opportunity to go to a 36T

Hi R120, No, but that is the case on all of my other bikes as well. My analogue bikes have 165mm cranks.
Apologies, but I do not fully understand your question? Is there a reason why I would need my feet to touch the ground with my dropper seatpost fully extended?

Ordered a Hope retainer narrow wide 36t. There's many similar options. You'll need the narrow outer ring bolts too.

As for pedals I thought (as we're talking clearance height) I'd try the really thin Crank Brothers Stamp large.

No, no reson or criticism, just interested to know. I was just thinking that if you knew you where going to downsize cranks on a new bike, how or if it would affect ones thinking on sizing - e.g on my bike, changing to 160mm cranks makes going from a 150mm dropper to a 170mm viable, and if I was looking at a new bike would I look at sizing of the bike from a new angle?

So je james have the miranda delta m cranks 33 quid a pair but they come with m10 bolts not m15 any body know if i bought these could i just chuck the m10 bolts away and fit m15?
There is only 1 isis crank shaft size right?

Do you know the difference between the Delta M and the Delta 0? I have the Delta 0.

Hi R120, No offence taken, all ok here ?

If you are thinking about dropping from 170mm cranks to 160mm cranks on your bike I would suggest you consider trying the following first as you may not need to actually change your seat post.
Raise the seat post out of the frame by 10mm and test ride it to check you still have your ‘Ideal’ riding position for pedalling and also check if your seat is still out of the way while riding technical downhill. If you can tick these 2 items off you should not require a longer dropper. The same rule applies if you are going to 150mm cranks although you would need a raise the dropper by 20mm.

If you are thinking about dropping from 170mm cranks to 160mm cranks on a new bike I would suggest you do the same but that is only if the bike shop will allow you to take it to your local trails.?

To be honest, and this is purely my opinion, a change of 10mm in you’re crank length is not going to require a bike size change or a dropper seat post change unless you are already on the wrong size bike.

Not sure if you were aware but this link has already been posted on post 9 and post 66 of this thread.

It is a very interesting article for sure.

They say in the article on average, riding uphill I will lose 25 Watts over a distance of 150m. If that is correct then over 1000 meters I lose around 187 Watts.

I am very new to Power meters and also rider Watts and losses of Watts so I have no idea Watt the above means (pardon the puns folks)

Hopefully we have a resident expert on the forum who can explain Watt is or Watt isn’t going on ?

Why don't you order directly from Miranda? For the Delta model alone there are 7 lengths, 13 Q-factors, 10 finishes and 3 different interfaces...

Sale to end customers is clearly a very small side business for Miranda but I always had good email contacts with them and always received what I needed (3 orders).

Done, and for info here: The Miranda Cranks are the 152mm QF16 ISIS "Delta 0" cranks arms.

Rob it may be invaluable to sticky / create and curate a thread for the best tested replacement parts. The chain thread for example has a few users who have tested different chains and found some to be junk etc.

These new cranks also have a sweet spot on size, price, construction etc..

Pedals, mud guards, lights, seats, tyres etc etc..
I think the maintained thread for example could be updated with something like:

Recommended chain replacement - Community tested part - XXX (link)
Recommended crank replacements - Community tested part XXX (link)
Recommended brake pad replacements pads - Community tested part - XXX (link)
Recommended Cleaning products...
Recommended rear triangle protection...
Recommended storage...
Recommended battery protection...
Recommended phone holder...
Recommended etc etc etc...

They don't need to be sponsored just community tested and verified by at least a few members. The chain thread is a very very good example of how this would save people money, time, and real world user tested results.

I think this would be very very useful.
Ithe chain thread a few guys have bought a chain (thinking it was one of the best) but tests prove otherwise. Had they known...

Might be a great resource for everyone to come to who's looking for recommended / "user tested" replacement parts, will be a great landing page for attracting new users who don't Know about it the forum but are searching for a new part etc and google links them here to that page.

It could also include weight, construction materials, sizes, costs, user mileage etc. That would be a very useful resource and can be updated when a better product comes along etc.
