The old bush looks like it has the remains of adhesive or something on it?
I’ve had this exact thing happen on my new cube I wonder if they were never pushed in fully from the factory? I’ve just refitted my old one for now but will try and get some new ones asap.
Funny though o finished my ride without the bush and it was silent with no issues at all for 20 miles. Makes me wonder if it is more of a dust seal than a structural mount?

What did you torque the bolts up to?

I really fancy one of these, has anyone sized down so fun bike? I'm about 6ft and currently have a levo SL S4, but I've previously owned bikes with a 460mm reach and enjoyed them.

I ride with a more Jibby/fun style rather than flat out speed

I’m just shy of 6’ and would describe my bike preference / riding style to be similar. No way I’d size down on this bike.

At 6ft you're between Large and XL, so if you want to size down it would be size Large for Vala. If you are thinking about Medium, then it would be way too small for you.

Personally I'm 6ft as well, and going for XL.

How do they size in terms of a Megatower, i sat on an XL Megatower yesterday at 6'0 and it was ridiculous just how big it is, it was HUGE !!!

The Vala has a 1mm higher stack and 5mm longer reach, the same length seat tube, and standover height is 12-17mm higher on the Vala. If the Megatower felt too big then the Vala will only feel bigger.

Wow, in that case, for me personally there's no way at 6'0 i'd even consider an XL.

My day to day is a Trek Fuel EX8 and that's (like him above) at a 460mm reach and i love it.. I'll happily ride 470-475 though too

I think that makes sense for your body otherwise you’ll feel stretched out or have to run a much different cockpit to get the reach numbers down to your preferred range.

I’m 6’, the L is perfect. Yes I did try an XL and I could ride it but it felt really long, don’t size up on bikes that trend is over.

Vala reach numbers are actually pretty conservative. A large Canyon Strive:eek:n is 500mm. A size 4 (aka large) Norco Sight VLT is 497. The trend for sizing up is over because bike manufacturers have slowly inched their way closer to the reach numbers pushed by Geometron for years (large=500mm).

I think all other aspects of geo, weight distribution and suspension kinematics influence how nimble a bike feels too, crunching the numbers doesn't predict how a bike feels although it may give you a lead. Agility is really important to me in a bike. I've ridden a fair few ebikes and own a Rise, but I won't spend cash without a demo. I demo'd a Vala in the recommended size and then ordered one...

I’m 5’10 / 5’11 so at the entry to the large size but chose to size down to a medium. The trails I ride most often are not super intense so was after a more playful ride. If the majority of my riding was big mountain type stuff I would have considered a large. I personally think bikes trends got to big and made bikes too stable and riding a bit boring and you had to go full send to push the bikes and make it fun.

And some manufacturers have realized it went too far.

I’d agree with others who have recommended the size large. I'm 6’1” and tried both the XL and the Large in Santa Cruz, CA. The XL just felt too long, and I ended up buying a Large, even though the geo numbers on the XL were almost exactly the same as my old bike with a slightly longer reach. The Vala even feels better on large drops to flat than my old 170mm travel bike.
I’d also recommend that those who have purchased the Vala to check their pivot bolts and the chainring. I lost a pivot bolt on the second ride due to the factory not using Loctite. The chainring came loose after about a week, which has happened on previous e-bikes as well. With that said Santa Cruz came through with the warranty like usual. In my experience they have always been extremely good with warranty claims. I've personally had 4 rims replaced over the last 2-3yrs. No questions asked, just proof of purchase and damage.

That was more a by product of trying to make a giant battery removable. 495-500mm reach is not good for someone 6' or shorter. No clue what a Geometron is and don't care.

Somehow I'm not surprised that you don't know what a Geometron is.

It may shock you to learn that Canyon also makes non EEBs. A large meat powered Strive has an adjustable reach of 500-510. So no, the large reach has zero to do with trying to make a giant battery removable.

Yeah but 475mm reach is spot on and that you get when you choose M size Strive on.
