I’m riding around on my 6 month old eBike with 630wh battery and I’ve only rinsed it once. And I couldn’t walk the next day.
Haha, well you are proof running out of juice isn't a life or death issue its just an inconvenience. Go pedal a flat Alibaba AMFLOW, now that might kill you so much drag.

Anyone know when the embargo will be officially lifted? I’m assuming it’s tied in with the SRAM mechanical transmission which is also under embargo

Might want to tell that to trek. The Slash+ comes to mine.
Also a pointless bike, that will leave you wishing you could do more descents 😉
What I want is a Session+ with 1000Wh.
For full disclosure I run 2x750 batteries and never drop out of turbo. "Biking" or whatever this awesome new sport is has never been more fun.

I've got one reserved with my LBS after seeing the details this last weekend and will be selling my transition relay in order to make room. The geo is pretty predictable if you have followed SC over the years and has the same type's of iteration on the vala geometry that you would expect. For example, extrapolate the same types of changes that you see when going from a 5010 to a bronson and apply that to what you see on the vala geo page. It's basically a horst link nomad with a motor.

The builds are slightly whack in the same way that the builds of the vala are slightly whack. Meh e13 hubs, brakes are too low of a tier for the cost on every single bike in the range, the usage of arc offset hoops baffles me when the sc reserve AL|HD are superior and 9,500 for an aluminum bar is a bummer. I won't comment on the drivetrain offerings, but yes something is coming soon for the mid range and this bike will have it.

Overall, I'm not a huge fan of SC builds at the moment and the pricing is insane... that being said, I tried an orbea and I tried a transition ebike and there is a reason that I am coming back to the build quality of Santacruz. I just want a bike that works, does not have super annoying design/build quality issues. Santacruz + Bosch motor = exactly that.

Regarding the WH situation... I've spent a decent amount of time on vala demo's. Most of my ebike rides are 5,000+ elevation gain. 600wh + 250re is just about perfect for me. If I want more, I can just buy a second range extender and carry that with me the same way I used to do the same on my orbea rise. Range on the vala is more then enough when riding in tour+ or emtb and power is insane in turbo. I can easily ride the vala in tour+ and get 7k of elevation gain with the 600wh + RE and I am absolutely knackered by the time the batteries are flat.

Couldn't agree more with getting a bike that just works without all the gimmicky shit . Way to many mediocre bikes out there getting rave reviews. I also threw a leg over the Orbea and was like nah.... I think you made a great choice.

I’ve just swapped the radials as they are terrible to DH casing conti’s (Argotal & Kryptotal) and with pedals is bang on 23kg or for our friends across the pond, 50.706lbs.
Curious to hear your riding weight, tire pressures, trail conditions, and what you didn’t like about the Schwalbe Radials? I had a demo Vala this weekend and felt like the tires for the first time. They were pretty incredible and definitely outclassed the same Maxxis tires I’ve been using for 5-10 years in every way. Haven’t tried Contis yet though!

Does anyone know a tentative release date? The Levo thread has been dragging on speculation for far too long on the G4, and if no long travel option the Bullit maybe a serious contender for my next ride.
they will announce April 2025. i literally got pics and specs of the thing lol!

I think sadly SC will be changing back to Maxxis, they have apparently had too much bad feedback on the radial tyres. I think they're awesome personally but hey ho.

They are polarizing but I've been quite happy with them as well. I'm of the opinion that the "folding" feel people quote is not actually folding, but the tire conforming (although I have no proof, slo-mo videos would be interesting). There is a bit of a "squirm" feel they can have under hard cornering, but once I learned to trust the tire despite that feeling I've been railing them with no issues. The extra grip in straighter lines has been a welcome feeling on the sloppy steeps. Curious to see how I'll feel come the higher-speed summer conditions.

I like the schwable radial casing... I still don't think much of their tread designs and rubber compounds. I definitely like how the radials feel over rock gardens when going straight and how they feel overall. But I'm still more comfortable on maxxis assegai and dhr2 and I still prefer maxxis 3c maxx grip over the schwable stuff. Also, I still tear schwable tires apart very, very fast and the soft and super soft radials are no exception.

As an oem... you're sorta foolish if you specify anything other than maxxis. They are the go to for most, they have huge market share. Based around that market share, 75% of the people that get bike XXX that does not come with maxxis tires, will be taking off the oem tires and putting maxxis on. That's a reduction in perceived value for the majority of your consumers, and as a result, a poor choice by a product manager.

Regarding others... I've tried the conti's. Meh, they are alright, better in the mud then maxxis and the casing is way more damped... but again, 3c maxx grip has more grip and the assegai is better then the krypto/xyno in front.

TLDR: Assegai is the true best tire, there is no changing my mind, so prepare to FIGHT!

Haha, I'm kidding (mostly). :ROFLMAO:

What's the website that has the list of upcoming dates for new product announcements? Was it bikerumour or mtb-news or something similar?
Wonder if the new bullit will have an updated bosch displaay

It was here: eMTB-News.de - eMTB-News und E-MTB-Forum but I have not seen the calendar in a few months, I don't know if they only added it during the deluge of bosch gen5 bike announcements?

I know in other industries, like videogame reviews, the embargo also embargoes the date of the embargo...

Would be crazy to have a long travel bike with a small battery. The reason for getting long travel is because you're going to be shuttling more Enduro/DH trails, so you want full power large battery.

Correct. How many chatting here actually own a 170/170 eeb and ride it to its limits…?

I’ve got a 2021 focus Sam2 170/180 and would never go down in travel. Almost bought the crestline but am holding out for the Bullit.
Also, do you guys have info on colours? I’ve heard there’s a black with light blue writing, but is there an option like the Vala?

Is the name of the bike still Bullit or something new?

It is called the bullit. It's been referred to as Vala LT internally.

For me, I prefer the small battery for my own usage and preferences on wh/range. I'm talking with SC engineers and product managers about this bike, the decision to go 600wh was almost entirely performance based. They prefer how they weight is centralized on the 600wh and 600+re over how the bikes feels with the 800wh. They felt there was a significant difference in how the bikes manuals and front/rear balance in the 600 vs 800. They felt that it makes the difference of a full power ebike feeling more like an SL ebike or traditional MTB vs the full weight/power tendency to feel glued to the ground.

I rode the outgoing Bullit for 4 years and the biggest downside for me was the weight of the battery that made the bike ride very heavy and sluggish. It felt more like a moped than bicycle. Super happy that SC went with the new Bosch 600Wh on the new Bullit to prioritize ride feel - you can use the range extender for long days and/or recharge while you're having lunch.

But sure, they will loose some customers who buy their bike only based on motor torque or battery size.

I have bullit and I think it`s amazingly agile and light, compared my previous bike, Gen2 Levo which wasn`t bad bike at any means.

I don't always huck sketchy ladder drops, but when I do, I'm happy to have 170mm of travel.

I have sized that one up before... it is mega sketchy. I was the only person in my group that was interested in doing it, but I didn't have a local to show me the speed so I chickened out. Seemed like it would be really easy to go a bit too fast or pull a bit hard and overshoot the landing and make it 5' bigger. You greased it damn near right at the tranny. Nice work.

Thanks dude. The roll in speed is quite slow on it. Overshooting it would be a real bad time. The landing is barely steep enough. It felt like a huck to flat, and that was everything going right.... probably wouldn't hit it on the eeb again. Better for the DH rig.
