Don’t down play this major flaw in Giant’s modification to the Yamaha motor, it Will come back to bite you. It’s not a matter of if, it’s when ? I ended up fighting with Giant over this design flaw to no avail. Finally had to seek legal action for a full refund. See these links.

  • Good luck , I know I will never be purchasing a Giant ever again. It amazes me how they can take an awesome Yamaha motor and completely screw it up. Cheers 🍻

Hey bro Thanks for the heads up.🤟 I have read all the horror stories on this and the German forum. I am aware that some bikes have worse issues with overheating.
My motor does get pretty hot especially on hot days...but as written, so far after 2000km ridden it happened only once on a really hot day and a tough climb.
I hope it doesn't get worse ✌ Sorry to hear you had to go through all that.

Hello lads, I'm also hopping on this Reign train! Im switching from 2021 Trance X E+ Pro 1 to Reign E+ 1.

Bike still making its way to Finland, but I've already ordered Fox xl mudguard and chameleonskin frame wrap set :) Next on my list is driving lights but I can't find info about lights button on Reign / Ergocontrol 3, is there way to toggle lights on/off from controls or just use original loom for power light and use lights buttons?

I was playing with this the other week and you can map the buttons of the Ergocontrol in the phone app to do different things. I bought a cable for my old light and hard wired it into the supply on the bike and changed the middle button to a light button. I also found out its 12v output and not 6v as I was led to believe before testing it. Shame its a press and hold to turn it on instead of a single press though. Test video of it working.
Just got to make the mount for it now and find somewhere to buy another grommet for the side of the frame.

An other evolution on my Reign E+ 1, after brakes grips rotors, saddle tires pads chain ring, Exit the fox X2 and in with a Fast Fenix coil. it has hydraulic bump stop and a pedaling climb platform. looking forwards to testing it this weekend.

I have a light hooked up to my 2022 Reign E + 2 and it comes on when bike is powered on , I have to push Ergo button to turn it off.
Also I used the power down button as I like to use walk assist in sticky situations .

Recently swapped my regular cable GX RD for a GX AXS as SRAM have them on sale right now.

You really have to try it to understand, shifting is so fast and precise. Crisp shifting all the time and the shifter is actually nice to use, love the clicking on the paddle.

Only major issue with it is the fact that clutch is soft as hell, my bike is not as silent as before which is kind of dissapointing.

I also saw that the cable was eating the frame where the cable was exiting the downtube, I would put additional protection there if I would run a cable again.

Hello riders, I have 2022 Reign E+1 and as many of you I found, that stock rotors are quite inadequate to the bike (noisy and even me as a newbie I feel and hear bending). I found that 2mm rotors should work with Shimano XT. The question is - what rotors are compactible or what rotors have you tested? I heard for example that 2mm Hope floating rotors have problems with rivets hitting the calipers...

I was running Magura MDR-P (2mm) work 100% with no issues with fit or operation. 👍

After trying Sram mechanical and AXS after years of Shimano, I was disappointed with the clutch strength on the Sram stuff also.

Small run down of my issues with the bike (Reign E+3) after around 1500km. Not riding it all that often in good weather, I am more on the bio bike.

- Battery rattling in the down tube. The lock seems to be loose. Sometimes it works, sometimes it rattles. Stuffed some moto foam besides the battery for now.
- Seatpost basically creaking after every other ride because of dirt getting into the seat tube.
- Front Hub (the cheap mt200). The nut to set the play for the shimano conical bearing was coming loose constantly. Front wheel has play left to right A LOT. Fixed with locktite for now.
- Base MT420 brakes changed for XT brakes with metallic pads and XTR rotors.. Way better braking.
- Constantly getting small stones down into the ditch where the shock is mounted on the downtube. Wasnt so much of a problem with the DPS shock. Got a Float X2 Perf. Elite from a guy, who has the E+1. Way harder to get those stones out from under that big reservoir.

Besides the low clearance under motor cover that I keep bashing constantly on stuff I has been a great descending bike. The only other concern I have is the big chainring up front. I would love to change that to a 32 or even 30 from the 36. Some steep uphills are pretty challenging with the 36T when running Eco a lot. Too often I have to increase supportmode. The motor even feels more punchy on a higher cadence, so the 36T just does not make that much sense to me at all.

Has anyone tried the new 2023 RockShox Super Deluxe RC2T Air damper? Would love to test one on the Giant. There is a linear and progressive Rebound tune though. Not sure which one to try. Had issues on both the X2 in the Reign and the X2 I had in my Forbidden Dreadnought. Changed the one in the Dread for the new Coil variant of the 2023 SuperDeluxe and it is really awesome.

Thought that there are SRAM Code RSC on E+0 (I got Shimano Deore XT, BR-M8120 on E+1 version)

Hi all. Awaiting my E+0 delivery at lbs :) Few questions on upgrades - firstly does the E+0 have the same issue with crap rotors that the other models seem to suffer with? Has anybody had any luck with a bash guard, or more to the point any issues without running one? The rockguardz one looks a bit naff needing a strap across it.

I'm on an E+1 so can't comment on your brakes (although I swapped to a 220mm front rotor almost immediately on mine as it came 200mm Shimano discs which aren't enough imho). Regarding bash guards, I run a Rockguardz protector on my conventional bike (an Orbea Rallon) just to protect the carbon frame from flying rocks and it's been well worthwhile for that reason but I've not bothered on the Giant. My thought process has been that it would reduce ground clearance even more and cause more sumping out making the problem worse. In practice I found that the chainring decks out before the bottom of the motor anyway and I've swapped from the OEM 36t down to a 34t which has helped a lot. In future I'll probably go down to a 32t and go with a closer ratio 10-46 cassette at the rear in place of the standard 10-51 when it comes time to replace the transmission. In my opinion the standard gearing on these bikes makes no sense whatsoever, when you have the assistance cutting out at around 15mph why would you ever need a 36t chainring?

E+0 comes with SRAM Centerline rotors which are not really thick.

I highly suggest switching to the new SRAM HS2 rotors which are thicker and throw in some MTX ceramic brakes pads for optimal performance.

I'm not running any bashguard on mine and each time I rub on something it's the motor plastic cover that is taking the hit, never hit the chainring or broke anything. It is scratched a bit, but it's perfectly fine..

Checked the 4 bolts on the lower battery attachment point(where the connectors are)? Mine were loose. Also the two safety bolts holding the upper locking mechanism that needs to be set spot on, not to far out or to far in.

I have only checked on top where the lock is. As you said. When the locking mechanism is not spot on, I can move the battery quite a bit left to right. On the lower end at the connector it seems fine. The mechanism on top itself is bolted on tight. I think it is just the lock itself. If you click the battery in place and let the locking mechanism pull the battery into the frame it worked in the beginning. Now I need to push the battery myself in all the way and find the sweet spot with the lock to keep it in place tight. Last ride it seemed to work.
I ditched the X2 yesterday and ordered the new SD Coil Ultimate with a 450 and 500lbs spring to test. While riding my pals thought the sag was a little bit too much. And well, they were right. The X2 lost around 40 psi since I last pumped it up. Went down to 170psi from 210-220. Came down to 50% sag almost :D So many parts are either a love or hate relationship. And I tend to dislike Fox damper more and more.

Ok, did you try moving the locking mechanism up or down to get it perfectly right. Mine was of to the right a bit so I tried to fix that.
While I got the right/left all right, the fore/aft or up/down was off even when it looked ok at first.
The catch was that I was doing this with the bike upside down so the battery was leaning on to the lock.
I then did the alignment with the bike standing normal, a bit tedious but I got it perfect that way as the battery was like it is when riding.
Of course it could be a fault on your locking mechanism...hope u get it fixed.✌

Hi mate, thanks for sharing this info. I also have an E+2 and according to this store, the 750wh battery is only compatible with the E+1 and E+0. Since you have the e+2 like me, did your LBS mention such limitations, or could it be simply that the store is giving out incorrect compatibility info? Thanks
Well I've done a few rides with the 800wh now. It fitted straight in to my Reign E+2 size medium (2022). I tried to fit it into my wife's Liv intrigue e+3 (2020 model) size small, but it wouldn't fit although the 625wh does.
