I just finished a ride on auto mode, managed to go 25.6 km with 910 m of climbing. By the end the battery was at its lowest I’ve seen so far, it turned orange for a bit then kicked me out of auto and into the lowest power mode. Just after that the orange battery light started blinking, I didn’t manage to get it to completely turn off, but I assume it was about to. At one point while climbing I was getting a different whine out of the motor that I haven’t heard before, not sure if it was a bad thing or not.

25km range is kind of really weak, no ?

Just bought the same bike, makes me nervous that I won't be able to ride as much as I was thinking!

the general engine noise is quieter than the pw-2, they have improved it.
If I feel a noise when I stop pedaling suddenly, for 1 or 2 seconds until the motor stops, as if it disengages, I don't know if I explain myself well, for someone else the same thing happens

New here, just bought a 2022 Giant Reign E+2 XL...first eMTB

I was riding a 2021 Giant Reign Advanced Pro 29 2 XL all summer and decided to make the jump to the ebike version when I saw that an E+2 XL size was available at my bike shop. Lots of Reign E+ available here in Quebec, but all sizes S/M/L.

The geo and mullet setup on that bike make the bike more playful and agile vs. my regular Reign...oh boy I had a big smile my first time down and jumps with the bike, couldn't believe how an ebike could be that agile.

Suspensions are perfectly tuned and so plush, small bump compliance is really good despite having lower end Zeb Select & DPX2 Performance. The bike is also dead silent when going down, big plus versus these EP8 rattling all over the place.

Only issue right now is that my GX rear derailleur is creaking badly under load...my regular Reign was doing the exact same thing with an NX rear derailleur, strange.

It is beautiful, I have the same one, there is a detail in the box where it says the REIGN E model, as it is also dark, it is hardly appreciated

It will go a lot further if you stick to the lower power modes, I think if I did a ride in mode 2 or 3 the whole time I could go quite a bit further. While I’m climbing in auto it definitely is using full power while going up fire roads, if I use auto it will use a bar of battery in the first 20 min or about 7 or so km of riding. I’m also 230lbs, so that probably doesn’t help.

I get the stop pedalling noise out of the motor as well, the noise I heard was while pedalling up using power, I’ll see if it happens again.

How is your experience about battery consumption. I'm a little frustrated about mine with the 625 wh. My first ride happens 95% at 200% push, so it's the middle of what is possible but it costs me 74% battery power for 31.3 km and 847hm. That means around 40km and 1000 hm it's over ☹
My weight is 92 kg.

Buone notizie sull'autonomia della batteria, ma Ride Control d+ non è vero, la mia app ouxMaps di solito è vera (so che questo tour è qualcosa in più di 1400d+

This is the noise it makes when you pedal hard and stop suddenly, then in normal gear it goes well, it is only in some sudden acceleration and stop.
The bike has 50 kilometers, is it normal for the new pw-x3 engine? It does not affect the operation, just that engine noise.

Hello,

My 2022 E+1 sounds like this too.
When i ride and try to pedal with the wrong gear (typically a gear too low for the speed my bike is moving), it sounds like this.
I guess it's related to the internal gears (motor engaging / disengaging, based on sensors informations).

If it's technology related, i think we'll have to deal with it.
The pw-x3 is so nice for everything else, i won't mind.
And the annoyance on a 3 or 4H ride may count for 5 to 10 occurrences, lasting each 1 to 3 seconds, so ...

On a another side :
My E+1 arrived the first week from october.
I had issue for charging my battery (inside the bike), with insane recharge time.
I went to LBS, got an update.
Battery recharge time is ok now. But i noticed the motor became even better, in every aspect (especially the peak power on smartassist, more powerfull when things go crazy).

Anyone got some or seen any comparisons between Spesh or Bosch in terms of range / performance of the motor? There's not a great deal of comparison info yet, obviously supply is playing a part in this. My E+1 comes in early December, was thinking a rail but this beast looks mega.

Just got an update when I connected the app to the bike this morning, is there any way to know what Giant is updating exactly ?

If you go to the App and the Update starts it say smart gateway 10y update. If you check Google is that the brain which controls the can bus and the data handling with bt and ant+.

In the app you can check the version under bike details. What it fixes i don't know.

Hi,

got my E+ 0 last Week and did about 120 km in total. Is there any way to tell this stupid app to reconnect by itself when the connection was lost during an Ride? I always have to press "Tap here to reconnect" to continue the ride.

@jaylkay:

i can give you an comparison to an 2021´Levo and 2018´Kenevo:
- Batterie consumption even or slytly better (compared to Levo 700Wh )
- Yamaha louder
- strange sound when decuppling from high revs
- Brose has more bottom power- Yamaha likes high cadence

Compared to my Levo 2020 it feels different for me. In my mind the brose has not as much torque at low cadence as the yamaha but more power at the top. My feeling depends especially to the afterrun of the brose that makes it sometimes more difficult for technical sections. Technical uphill sections with the yamaha are easier for me because the motor stops when i stop and if i start pedaling i can do it slower with more torque what makes me more stable.

To battery consumption i'm in trouble with mine and i have to do more tests but for that i'll be back later.

For the rest i'm with you.

Just did a ride with a friend riding a 2019 Turbo Levo S-Works with the 700WH battery. He tried my 2022 Reign E+2, immediately saw that the Yamaha motor has less bottom end power, requires a few pedal spins and good cadence to feel the boost.

I wasn't able to climb as fast as my friend as I must downshift to get that high cadence to get the motor boost me up the hill.

I'm 100lbs more than my friend combined with the fact that the Brose has more low end power, I'm having a hard time folowing him on the steeper climbs, otherwise no problem going as fast.

I will also need a 2nd battery or Energypark plus, otherwise I'll be out of battery rather quickly (I'm 260lbs).

I also switched the flip chip to the HIGH position, did anyone notice any changes by switching the flip chip ?

Good clean up after a muddy ride!

I want opinions from people who also have the new yamaha pw-x3 engine in the new giant reign 20222, the bike has only 50 km, I want to know if it is normal or if someone who has the same model also happens.
when you pedal, it has a little dead center, before you start to push the wheel with a clicking noise.

This is slightly disappointing to hear, I presume the power isn’t being limited by software somehow? Settings or app on full boost? I’m hearing a few others are hearing odd noises on disengagement etc?

That sounds normal after coming from shimano and Bosch systems, just sounds like motor engagement

Are you using auto-mode? Or the standard settings? This is interesting, as I've never tried a Brose, but find the Yamaha pretty torquey in general.
