Depend how you look at it. Kenevo is 170/170 but only fox 36 in cheapest version and you get 38 on Reign.
I think you’re referring to the newer Kenevo SL @ 170mm front and back, but that is another beast altogether; Specialized SL 1.1 lighter motor (non Brose) 35Nm torque & 320Wh battery. I was thinking older Kenevo with 95Nm Brose motor & 180mm suspension... Anyway all extremely good bikes! 😊

I tested my new E+ 1 this morning on my street. For someone that has never ridden a EMTB (not even tested one) the lowest assistance level is PLENTY. Almost like I would like a lower one.

Bike actually has 6 levels. 5 assisted and assistance off (all via the remote, no need to turn the bike off). Even with assistance off it was no worse then my Propain Tyee on flat ground.

Remote is a bit meh. Might get use to it in time but feels small and hard to find. Bigger pronounced buttons would be better I feel (Think shimano EP8 remote).

What’s the sort of money for the hunt wheel set? I’ve got some new pads for the sram brakes, hopefully will make a difference. Although hope have got their new tec4 brakes coming out soon 😬
They were 850 nzd. I thought pretty reasonable.
I can feel the oem wheels on the 2 flexing when pushed..... Horrible feeling....
Damaged the rear over Xmas but was able to get to seal again and probably running too low psi to be honest..

Your Fidlock base seems just on top of your frame without using the black spacers that came with the bike. Correct?
Does this mean you shortened the bolts that come with the Fidlock?
As you can see I am using the black spacers. I may shorten the bolts as I think I'll need to in order to fit the 600ml Thirstmaster 🤔

Just use shorter screws and you don't have to use any spacers at all.

Just use the App to adjust the assistance levels to your personal preference.

Hi Duke, I am actually in the process of choosing between a turbo levo expert 2022 and reign E+0 2022. I only managed to try the levo comp alloy and not the reign. On the levo, I loved the motor (super silent), the remote, the agility in technical single trails descent (amazing control in turns). I just found it a bit to stiff or rigid. My whrists were hurting a bit after 34 km ride.
On paper the reign has better specs, higher travel (maybe this will make it less rigid on rocky sections) and i loved the idea to get to 1000 of battery adding the extender.
However hate all these words, i would only need to try them but no way to do it!

As you tried both, what’s the verdict?

The Levo is much more playfull the reign is more stable.
The Maestro backend is super plush i feel the backend of the Levo more nervous.
The reign can be ridden more lazy the Levo needs more attention and has to be ridden more active. The Levo flyes better and it feels more light, more than it is, to me.
Motor of the Levo is supernice and quite lot better than my 2020 was.
Reach of my Levo is what i expected. Today i did 26 km with 900 hm and only needed 42% battery. My reign was terrible with that.

Both bikes are very nice and if i wanted to spend 15k in an sworks i would flip and buy an expert and a reign. Much more better value for the money imho.
It‘s up to you to decide what you like more.
Stiffness you felt can be dialed by the suspension. I felt that on my old 2020 Levo and could not change it but i don‘t feel it on the new one.

I'm a Maxxis guy and usually have the Assegai 2.5 DD MaxxGripp on all of my Bikes just because it works so well.
For the Winter I changed to Specialized Butcher T9 on the rear and Dude, it woks like a champ. Even in the cold where other compounds get harder, the Butcher just delivers plenty of Traktion with slow rebound that keeps the bike planted to the ground.

I also have a Levo Carbon 2019 good bike, silent motor but NOT reliable, 4 motors in 2 years, same with Kenevo. Prices exaggerated and not justified.

I also had 2 Motors in my 2020 Levo. But the new motor was mounted in between a week last August.

I had problems with the battery consumption of the reign.
Waited 3 month for the second battery. LBS gave me a 500 wh lend battery. And with this battery it was clear that the bike has still the same consumption. That was in November and Giant told me to wait for the new battery to end of January before they get active to look what it can be instead the battery.
3 month ignoring the real problem 🤦.
When i asked what will be the next step after giant accepts that it is not the battery i was told that they pick up my bike bring it to their headquater to do tests. How long this takes they could not tell me. With my battery it took 11 days before giant picked up the battery (LBS is not allowed to send it by themselfes) additional 7 days before they tested the battery and decided that i get a new one.

I think there is no guaranty to have no problems with an emtb.

And yes Spezi ist like Apple, Ferrari or Rolex.
Heavy overpriced but when i sold my 2020 Levo i got the same price that i payed for two years ago.
That is also the Rolexeffect.

Did your bike shop do any additional waterproofing before you collected the bike. My dealer spoke about plasti dipping connectors before handing them over to customers.

I use the app for updates and checking the battery % only, I use Strava for recording rides.

My supplier informed me that they shrink wrapped parts of the motor prior to me collecting bike, can only assume it’s the connectors. No water problems at all. Also haven’t had any issues with the App, just don’t need to use it when riding.

Absolutely love this Giant Reign during my test period. The value for money on this bike is right up there (possibly the best bang for buck ebike out there right now, especially with dealer backup), the suspension is superb, with the Fox level components on this bike, £6299, its a LOT of bike for the ££

Shimano XT drivetrain / brakes work brilliantly.

One thing I did was change the flip chip to high position. The bike is such a good climber that in Low I think its hampered with loads of pedal strikes (like way more than anything else I ride). I actually had a crash with a pedal strike riding down a basic flow trail that I've ridden hundreds of times, clipped a tiny root when giving it some gas!

I'm not sure what the stock BB height is in low as Giant don't list it, but I will update this when I get the tape measure out!. It seems real low to me.

With the chip in high, the seat angle is nice and steep (77.5 degrees) which if you are on a larger bike or XL really does help with weight balance. And the head angle is still in the 64 degree region (I'm going to measure exactly with my Digital gauge). In high position the bike is still hugely capable, but more of an all round eeb rather than a DH sled.

Motor. Better than the last gen, smaller, lighter. But loses on outright power to the Bosch and Brose. It seems to fizzle out at the top end. Low down grunt is good.

Steep roughy rock and DH, massively capable! Hugely impressive.

The bike isn't light. 24.8KG in XL. Personally doesn't bother me too much, but I know there are some weight conscious people out there for their bikes.

Some things I'd change:

- Stock rear tyre. Not the best for grip, and poor choice for climbing performance. The Maxxis High Roller 2 just can't get the bite in soft loam, mud or anything other that dry rock of hardpack. Would change instantly as it is holding the bike back. Its crying out for a DHRII 2.4"

- Flip Chip to High (with a 2.4" rear tyre would be slightly 'less high' than the stock 2.5" tyre)

- Bar rise is not high enough on XL. Even at the top of the stack on the stem its too low. Need a 35mm rise personally

- I'd experiment with a shorter stem (50mm stock) to change the feel out front

- I wish you could get the E+1 with the bigger battery in the UK (In Germany you can buy it specced with the 750Wh for €350 more)

- I'd fit a 200mm dropper on XL

- Some kind of tool storage, the T25 for battery removal requires you to have this to hand if you are charging inside. Id fit a OneUp EDC lite to the stem

bloody hell the BB height is seriously low, this is in the High position and it has a BB height measured at ~329MM 😱

That’s the lowest by far I’ve measured for a long travel 170mm/160mm EEB. In low it must be around the 325mm ish height!

I wonder if they originally designed it around a 29/29 and Mulleted it to stay ‘on trend’ last minute??

I was looking at this yesterday in the local Giant Store as upgrade and replacement to 2020 Trance E. There’s a lot out there for the price, but I like the security of local dealer support. Just a shame there are no demos available at this point

Upgrading from 2020 Trance E+, picking up the 2022 Reign today. I already got a shorter stem and riser bar available. Will run it stock for a while before changing anything. I’ve been planning to run this bike with flip chip on “High" as an all round eeb.

Hi Duke, I had the same problems like you. The range of the bike with the 625wh battery was very poor. I had 30% less range than with my previous bike, which had a 600wh battery with the PWX-2 motor.
Handed it back to the dealer for checks, they said it's ok. I tried it again, and no - it was not ok. Poor power of the motor and bad battery economy. But I could not be bothered to take it to the dealer again, argue again and be without a bike for weeks to come, since the dealer wanted to ship it back to Giant headquarter for tests. I got a good offer, so I sold the Bike.
Now I own a 2022 Levo Sworks and that bike is just so much better in every aspect - price aside.

And I totally agree with Rob: In the low settings I got pedalstrikes literally everywhere, aswell. In the high-setting it got better, but still the ground clearance was not really good.

Different people with different body proportions. Try before changing anything. On my XL the stock bar (20mm rise) is higher than on my S5 Kenevo with 40mm riser bar. Cockpit isn't that long, I can weight the front nicely with the stock 50mm stem. I have couple of cm seat post showing, doesn't matter, the seat goes low enough. Heck, even the stock saddle is very good. Rode 40km trails today without any need for padded trousers.

I have mine on high also. Never measured the BB height, but it sure doesn't feel high at all.

Interesting - are you running bars in highest position on stem? Wonder if my steerer cut shorter. How many spacers do you have?

Totally agree about sizing, it’s all personal.

Only 125mm dropper on my medium frame. Specs say 150mm. Got a one up 185mm on order so I don’t care but other ppl will be mad.

Can you fit a 29” in the rear? Else it was design around the 27,5.

what is a “normal” BB height? Rail as an example?
