Spring tides today the ☠️ pirate shack nearly wet at the mouth of River Spey. Mild again but weather due to change tomorrow . Dry cycling over for a few months I imagine. Surprised to see I did 30 miles won't be doing that long in the winter too cold.

I’m still on a three week roadtrip with my family. It was 33 degrees and snowing in Mount Shasta, Ca today so it seemed like perfect weather to go on a ride. 17 miles later and I can say that the trails here are amazing. Great traction other than the occasional patch or ice or frozen pine needles

Forest England have been out with some new signage (maybe I never noticed before?). I think the skull & crossbones is a bit OTT.

Yes, if a beginner went down there that stayed sat on the saddle and went faster than their skillset, then they might come off. There was a similar sign at the entrance to the dirt jump area. That has an introductory line with 12" high tabletops, and one next to it with 2' high table tops. But there are also lines with 8' gap jumps. The problem is that it was putting off the Mum of a family of four. The 8-year old was gung-ho for some fun, as was his Dad, but Mum was reluctant. I nearly failed to persuade her to let them give it a go. The boys loved it!

That does seem a little OTT.
In our area, green, blue, red, black diamond and double black diamond, indicates a trail difficulty. But nothing is standard.

Of the two mountains in our area, Eagle Mountain is well signed. Burke Mountian is not. Signage on Burke Mountain sometimes gets torn down as fast as it goes up.

If a trail sign built by volunteers is fixed high enough, and well enough, it may survive.

Another day and another trip to Glentress..old "Reds" in the morning and then playtime in the afternoon on the new Black / Red & Blue flow trails ..which were good fun but it looks as if too many riders have ridden these and found them a little beyond their skill set by the amount of brake bumps on the red & black in particular .
A really good time was had by all and it's always great to hook up with Alan ,Ant & Wayne ..roughly about 25miles & 3,500ft..
Only the one pic at the start of Spooky Wood descent ..with two Smoggies from Middlesbrough ( canny craic) to the left of the pic ..Ant, Alan & Wayne to the right..

Great day at Glentress with @The Hodge @timberjack and @Walkea
A nostalgic trip for as it’s been a few years since I’ve rode the trails there.
Big big difference to when I first rode there in the late 1990’s when the ride up to the skills area was a proper ball ache and the Reds were as knarly as f**k. My days of ridding “off piste blacks” are long gone, I want too, but the hand eye coordination plus the reaction time to light and dark is pretty slow now…..The days off road trips to Morzine are just a treasured memory now.
Anyway back to yesterday, loved the old Reds, played on the new flow trails, l still get a massive buzz fully committing to a big berm and hitting the jumps when they out in the open. All three new trails are great for building confidence and with a few sessions would build technique into riding a berm and not just negotiating one. Well done to all concerned in building these trails.
North Yorkshire next weekend, a totally different ride all together

From my early Saturday ride in an army training field some kilometers from our home. The local cross country ski tracks run in this area. I tried to follow the 10km ski track, but couldn't follow it exactly, as the markings are quite sparse and best suited for winter use. I'm not that keen on cross-country skiing, so my knowledge of the tracks is not that good. My wife, OTOH, knows them very well, so I got a detailed description of where I should have ridden when I came home for breakfast :)

As mentioned, winter is coming. The smaller lakes will soon freeze over, as shown here.

This one looks like it has stood here for a while.

First snow on Corriehabbie very cold on top. Plenty clothes but it takes a while to get used to the cold as lts been a balmy 14 for a few days. Shooting party I met must have been in Glenfiddoch Lodge ruin as the fire was still on when I came past.

I cycled Corryhabbie a couple of years ago back in June Binhill1. I parked just off the B9009, popped up Corryhabbie via Glenfiddich Lodge, then back the same way, peddled down the road to Tomachlaven and then cycled up Ben Rinnes. I’m a bit of a hill bagger so it was great to bag two hills by just riding the ebike right to the top. Wasn’t as cold as your day though.
