So good you posted some twiceWhat a cracking ride out today in crisp and bright winter sunshine. More than makes up for not being able to catch up with our ridding buddy from Yorkshire @JDFI on Saturday due to inclement weather.
@The Hodge knows this place like the back of his hand ( back in the day hand building and planning some of the original Red Trails ) therefore he can name them all but not me I can never remember them.
So on that note I canβt add to Neilβs excellent post so Iβll upload the pics I took starting with the newly laid stuff to the original reds which have been restored

I'll just correct that slightly to read " back in the day helping to hand build ( Capon Hassock ..still closed but due to be reinstated ) ..and yes I did help to flag out that particular trail which is the only one in the entire forest which involved no machinery ..but was involved with Kielder Trail Reavers for a good few years helping to maintain the trail network ."( back in the day hand building and planning some of the original Red Trails
No mate ..AquamanLike a MTB Superman?
It would have been OK if you just kept heading South West ..at least until you reached the sea ..Was going to ride this morning but decided against it. No prize for guessing why that was

OK heading North East with wind behind us but coming back the opposite direction would have been 'interesting' ...It would have been OK if you just kept heading South West ..at least until you reached the sea ..
Force 10 fair wind that.Was going to ride this morning but decided against it. No prize for guessing why that was

According to your chart the wind was blowing in a South Westerly direction ..so it was coming from the North East ..and believe me you wouldn't have wanted to be up here today with 4" of snowOK heading North East with wind behind us but coming back the opposite direction would have been 'interesting' ...
It was blowing from the South West. As can be seen by the arrow.According to your chart the wind was blowing in a South Westerly direction ..so it was coming from the North East ..and believe me you wouldn't have wanted to be up here today with 4" of snow
Wrong ...the arrow is pointing to the S.W...suggest a trip to spec savers ..and if your vision is that impaired and are unable to read the small print it says WIND DIRECTION SOUTH WEST ..which means in case you need it spelling out ..the wind was blowing in a South Westerly directionIt was blowing from the South West. As can be seen by the arrow.
Well aware of that ..but this chart is different ..it shows the actual wind direction on the " clock" as being to the South West( the point on the arrow pointing this way) ..therefore it is a North Easterly wind ..From Wikipedia;
Wind direction is generally reported by the direction from which the wind originates. For example, a north or northerly wind blows from the north to the south;[1] the exceptions are onshore winds (blowing onto the shore from the water) and offshore winds (blowing off the shore to the water). Wind direction is usually reported in cardinal (or compass) direction, or in degrees. Consequently, a wind blowing from the north has a wind direction referred to as 0Β° (360Β°); a wind blowing from the east has a wind direction referred to as 90Β°, etc.
Weather forecasts typically give the direction of the wind along with its speed, for example a "northerly wind at 15 km/h" is a wind blowing from the north at a speed of 15 km/h.[1] If wind gusts are present, their speed may also be reported.
Wind direction SOUTH WEST always means wind blowing FROM the South West.Wrong ...the arrow is pointing to the S.W...suggest a trip to spec savers ..and if your vision is that impaired and are unable to read the small print it says WIND DIRECTION SOUTH WEST ..which means in case you need it spelling out ..the wind was blowing in a South Westerly direction
No, this chart is NOT different. If sailors relied upon "The Hodge System" of wind direction the results would be at best hilarious and at worst disastrous.Well aware of that ..but this chart is different ..
