Irie.
Having just agreed with me that the direction of the wind is TO the South West ..you then go on to contradict what you've agreed with ..
I must admit it's the first time I've come across that particular chart ..but then again I'm not a sailor ..and to a non-sailor it's very confusing ..
If it says that the wind "Direction" is South West then safe to say that most folk would agree that is the way the wind is blowing ..

A much clearer method is the one which the Met Office uses which quotes the direction from where the wind originates..with the arrow pointing in the direction in which it is travelling ...

I'll stick to the above method ..and leave your confusing chart to you sailors ..
@Arminius ..that's an excellent tool you posted ..just about to look for the app..

OK Mr.Squint ..please see the last sentence and note the word " to"..then below your green tick ..which denotes the fact that you have agreed with what I have written..
Unless of course that means the complete opposite to you sailors

..also far from being in denial I'm in complete agreement with the way The Met Office report wind direction as stated in my previous post ..which if you hadn't been in such a rush to reply you may well have seen ..

Here's what the Met Office today forecasts for a location near you I think? You'd better call the Met Office and tell them they've got their graphics wrong. Good luck.

You really don't read anything at all do you in your haste to prove how clever you are( not!) ..
I've already said earlier ..if you cared to look that the Met Office has a much clearer app ..and is the one that I use when checking weather, wind strength & direction ..
To be honest I've wasted enough time on a complete bore like yourself ..so go ahead and enjoy your knitting / crosswords/ jigsaw or whatever else fills in your day ..

We got the first snow here in friday. Nothing left in the city, but in the mountains there are still some left. Did 33km,trails quite slippery, only fell once, but it was fun.

Tell me something I don't know ..but you are right it is a stupid app ..
Having not used the stupid app ever with the pointer pointing at the South West it was quite easy to assume that as with the sensible Met Office app the pointer would be showing the direction of the wind ..
But you live & learn ..

The "stupid app" is following SI (Système International) conventions. It seems that a different system is required for certain Northumbrian residents.

Well ..a system that the majority on here would use ( Met Office ) ..would certainly help..but I guess ( as usual ) you were just trying to be clever

At least this conversation is staying in the “Weather Lane”.

I still use a weather rock. Apparently there’s no app for that and it’s been fairly reliable for millions of years.



You can memorize this or customize it to your area.

if your vision is that impaired and are unable to read the small print it says WIND DIRECTION SOUTH WEST ..which means in case you need it spelling out ..the wind was blowing in a South Westerly direction

Same day, another year! According to file names these are pretty old pics in surprising high resolution, taken on July 15, 1983 and 1984!
Saturday we had freezing zero celsius, Sunday 17 C in middle of Germany. Above I see pics with snow and pics from the beach. My biorhythm is getting completely f….. up!
