Some Instagram inspiration for you. Is that instaration?
Hopefully inspiration to ride a normal bike too. They're honestly way nicer to jump steeper lips with flat run ins and all lips where you need run in speeds of over 15mph..

nice! yea that guy isnt at the same stage as me :) I cant lock the suspension out but I put the compression damping to max.. I dont have a hardtail but ive been looking for a trails / jump bike for some time now but I just cant afford it and would rather spend the money on a bike for Sam.

I have a watch on anything 'inspired' or 'jump bike' on ebay
and yea, I also wanted to try to learn trials :)

edit: I should say that ive no real idea what size wheel I should get for a jump bike either, is there a general rule? im 6'2"

Jump bikes are all still 26" wheel.
Most either come in just one size or two. All have 13-15" seat tubes. Any model that comes in two sizes is usually long or short. At your height go with long.
A jump bike with a Dropper and reasonable gearing (eg. 1x10) can be extremely versatile. I use mine for everything from DJ, skate parks n pump/bmx tracks to xc/enduro riding.
What's your budget?
You don't need an inspired.
Pinkbike buy and sell is full of complete jump bikes at bargain prices. Ebay is full of shitters at unrealistic prices.

I'm sure he'll get there one day. ?

Being more serious. I posted the clip as it's a really similar gap to your garden path gap. Only Wyn's is 2.5 - 3 times longer. Same rules apply. (although he pulls to make it to the landing, and your gap doesn't require any pull)

I have practiced jumping but spent more time working on the house and fixing/servicing/making guitars, something I’ve not done properly for a few years now....

Is this part of a new Indiana Jones Movie !!! ;):D

No, it's part of the new do-it-at-home Blue Peter................... Today we are going to show you how to make a super E-MTB jump system using only reclaimed pallets, washing up liquid bottles, toilet roll tubes, and sticky-backed plastic.

I didnt like it, I have made an almost complete overhaul... its too hot for outside woodwork !

Good move. It just looked ill thought out. Once you fill the ditch with diesel and light it the pallets will burn, the 10 tonne rock you'll have rolling down behind you will just roll off to the side and pose no threat. The site is too open so it's too easy avoid all the crossbow arrows.

Better still, he could roll the 10 tonne rock into the ditch to fill the gap instead of the pallets, and could then fill the ditch with fiery diesel, resulting in spectacular effect without the risk of burning the pallets.................. Simples!

Genius ! ..

Somehow feels lacking in danger though - to the normal levels which views of "Old Blokes Who Should Know Better" expect ... It needs some ninja assassin bystanders playing guitars with razor blade pick's .. or 26" wheels .. as in dobby with 26" wheels, not ninja assassin's playing guitars with 26" wheels .. is that even possible ? must be easier than using a 29" ?

Got a bit inspired yesterday afternoon and after putting a couple of new tyres on "The Better Halfs" bike, I made these. See what you've started Dobby, and your right, we should all know better. Haven't felt so creative or inspired for years so keep up the great work and entertainment for us all. I have taken some footage of me using them and will try to edit a short piece together for everyone to get a laugh out of it.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the sticks of dynamite strapped to his legs to encourage him to ride through the flames quickly, and the huge pendulum axe swinging backwards and forwards across the rock to make sure he times the jump correctly.

Outstanding rainy day entertainment !!!

0:54 .. first time I've ever heard a peacock say "Shiiiiiiitttttt" ..

1:50 10/10 for mug style & Mrs Dobby fortunately arrives on the scene with some good advice and worried looks ...

Sam's really progressing.

6:10 Sky cam ? not expecting a wheeled landing ......

10/10 !

Awesome video Dobby, and what a journey you and your lad have been on if you go right back to the start and then look at today's offering. Excellent work.
Now from a technical point of view, do you use the timelapse setting on your camera (Gopro?) or do you just speed up your footage when you are editing? Will try to put something together over the weekend and upload it to youtube and post the link on here as you have done. As I've said, inspirational and keep it up, always looking forward to the next installment from the Llandovery version of Sam Pilgrim.

cheers mate :) yea Sam joining in has made it really great for me and wasnt what I was expecting as it was really all about me being clumsy all on my own or with other clumsy irresponsible old blokes (which will still happen eventually)
no, my gopro is too old to do the timelapse (I think), it's an ancient gopro 2 but if I had a 7 or 8 I would use the timelapse option. what I do is record the whole thing and then either speed it up x4, x8 or x20 depending on length of clip. Either that or I manually cut out chunks of video to suit, I use iMovie at the moment, I have sony vegas but its on an old PC in the workshop.
