Had a chance to ride one of these for a few hours on a demo day last weekend and it was fantastic.

I was short on time - the Bullit I was signed up to ride for a couple of hours had issues after only 30 mins/400m of elevation and one descent so I went back and they put me on the Vala (what a shame!).

I managed to get about 1300m of elevation in about 1hr 30, riding it straight up the most direct routes I could find in turbo and giving it a good go on the way down too. I brought it back to them with half a bar of battery left. Would be interested to try it out for a longer time and seeing what you could get out of it on a longer ride with it in trail/eco etc when you're not in a rush. Also would be interesting to see how it goes with the range extender.

Compared to the one run I did on the Bullit before it died, I went back up and started with the same track for a good comparison and it felt extremely composed, very quiet and smooth and those new schwalbe radial tyres definitely make a difference.

Standover clearance felt much lower on the Vala which was nice and confidence inspiring.

Can we talk about a Bullit replacement? A Vala with longer travel and a little slacker?
I wonder if anyone has long stroked their vala? Theres room on the shock stroke on them. Not sure if the frame has clearance though. A possible 180f/163r vala would also be almost 1⁰ slacker, before any anglesets get installed

That would be very close to what I'm looking for. Seems that the Bullit is feeling out of date with the Shimano motor. Also as SC is giving the 4bar (on the Vala) such praise this adds to the Bullit feeling tired. Time for a long travel SC Ebike?

I'm interested in the potential new bike too but there doesn't seem to be to many rumours about.

I know that the dealer network have to sign NDA'S so maybe its imminent but nobody is talking about it.

what we do know is that the bullet is well past its sell by date so you would expect a replacement soon.

Agreed. I'm not hearing much about a Bullit replacement. Whilst the Specialised rumor mill is going crazy!

There's a big discussion on another thread basically saying overshocking is a bad idea. ie the bike is designed a certain way by clever designers who know what theyre doing and some bloke in a garage thinks he knows better etc etc.
I don't really know but I just wish SC would hurry up and give me a longer travel ebike!

Oh sure, thats been the argument by people that cant think for themselves for ages only to have next years bikes adopt what people have done in the real world. Every year a company claims its the perfect geo. Next year its longer and slacker etc etc etc. Kind of an embarassing argument with so many course corrections ,with pretty much every bike forevvvaaarr
Besides whats to stop some one from just throwing on a shock w the same eye to eye with a longer stroke to try it. If the tire doesnt rub and no frame parts collide it accomplishes the goal. Shock rate/linkage design can be managed with various home shock tuning methods

Agreed, and I wouldn't be surprised if Cascade Components develops a link to further increase progression and also increase travel like they have for many other bikes.

Went to local shop and rode Vala today, asked about Bullit replacement and was told very soon 1st quarter 2025, 600W batt, similar weight, more travel. so worth waiting if thats what you want Bullit replacement is very near, he stopped short of telling me the date but could tell he have more info.
