I built my own 'Öhlins Limited' long-travel version (170/165 mm) using TTX22M.2 + Cascade and Fox 38 with a Smashpot coil spring and an Avalanche open-bath cartridge.

Nothing beats the buttery smoothness of a coil spring paired with a high-oil-volume damper. The stock Levo was cute, but after the coil conversion, it turned into an absolute weapo
Yes this is what I plan to do but one does not know how the gen4 fits with 180 fox elite or zeb ultimate/eg ttx22 160 coil

If you are medium size and ride in a particular way then maybe. But I prefer full 29er and the stability. The way forward is a bike that can be run either way. Also larger size frames look like dogs having a poo.
Must admit I haven't noticed much difference in 29 er . Started 26 inch , so gradually worked up and adapted since 87.

My prediction on possible battery capacity and weight was already done way back in December Post #819 of the previous thread where I predicted a 850Wh and a 567Wh battery.

Now that we have more information my educated guess for the 840Wh(42 x 5,5Ah cells) battery would be 4,2 kg.

The smaller battery should be 2,8 kg for what I think will be a 560Wh(28 x 5,5Ah cells) battery. Unless they used different even higher capacity cells(5,8Ah) for it to make it 600Wh, but that would make it heavier. If someone knows more correct me if I’m wrong.

The extender falls into the calculations with 280Wh(14x 5,5Ah cells) and an approximate weight of 1,4kg.

Although while these are side removable batteries, the weight could be higer because of the way of plugging and securing it into the frame.

Beautiful bike and I have to agree I have a coil on my G3 and it’s incredible.

I think this exactly(well built emtbs) will be a slight problem not just for Spesh but all emtb manufacturers.

I guess we all(well most enthusiasts) by now have at least one favorite built up and serviced emtb that we really like.

Unfortunately it probably has a resale value that is a fraction of a new emtb, so it's not really economically to go into selling old and buying new and with all the living costs also rising it just makes it even less possible.

Someone from another region maybe has a different view, but here I see a lot of guys not switching the old ride for new for at least another season.

600wh battery and 200wh extender. Wish they would have the option to choose what battery you want, I’d go with the 600wh and buy the extender. The 600wh would be plenty for 90% of my rides, I could slap the extender on for the other 10%. Spesh is basically milking you for more money doing it the way they are!

That's they Way how speci Marketing still leaves the Door open for a next SL Model...

Curious for those in the USA.

Does your governments new 30% tariff on items from Taiwan affect Levo prices in the USA?
Or are Bikes not includes in this new tax on USA citizens?

I was told it's a Brose but geared, not belt drive.
Well that will be loud, I have a CYC motor on one of my stumpjumpers and it whines.

Two dead ebikes here (not fixable), two analogs. Dying to get a new ebike myself, just waiting for the official releases. All parts good on one ebike, so G4 frameset calling my name. Just bummed wont be able to use my 700 and 500 batteries on it. 840 sounds dreamy for longer rides

Since the motor is a new design, we'll see. That's one reason I'm still considering a Crafty Carbon since the Bosch gen5 CX is a bit more of a known quantity. Reliability is my main concern so the 2 year warranty and history of offering an extended warranty could help reduce risk of being a new motor design adopter. Also hoping the German employees at Brose won't be too disaffected by the Yamaha buyout. We want their design/support teams to stay intact.

That said, I think the side-loading design is neat. By allowing both the large and extender batteries to live inside the downtube, I believe the need to have an external cable is eliminated. But it will be interesting to see how high up in the downtube the two batteries will extend. eMTBs based on Bosch's PowerMore design might be able to keep the battery weight lower and allow nimbler handling (since they usually mount at the water bottle bosses). All tradeoffs.

Correct. That's been know about for almost a year now.
Only thing i have been told is that the motor gears are all metal & not nylon as shown in the Brose motor pictures of the non specialized version. We will see if that's true in 5 days.
Metal gears can have a reasonable low noise if they are with helical tooth profile (more expensive to manufacture). But I have doubts they will be all metal (how would they keep the weight down??). Also metal gear pairs must be lubricated, will they have oil in the motor?? Motor oil changes incoming? :ROFLMAO:
