Is the orbea Rise suspension progressive?

Hey all, just pulled the trigger on an H30 with intentions of upgrading the suspension right away. Probably going to go with a Mezzer Pro (at 150 to start) upfront and wanted to do the Bomber CR in the rear. So just wanted to confirm that if I want to do the CR at stock travel that would be the 210x55 , right? And I'll probably have to file down the shock yoke to accommodate the rebound knob. Is that correct? Anything else I should be aware of?

Eventually I'll probably experiment with increasing travel and a mullet setup. Definitely don't want to raise the BB.

Why not raise the BB a bit? I would love a little more clearance as I pedal strike a bunch compared to previous mtn bikes…

I have a mezzer pro on mine, and at first used a bomber cr. I then got an offset bushing and a topaz for the rear and mulleted it. I plan on just put on the pump and reduce the travel by enlarging the negative chamber, that should make this bike a 2-in-1 and transformation shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.
Sadly I just had surgery so I haven't tried the mullet setup properly yet.

So with the bomber was it just a standard 210x55? Did you need any offset bushings?

I have a topaz on my Ripmo AF. It is a great shock too. If I can get the Rise to ride 90% as well as the Ripmo I'll be super happy.

For those that have done a coil did you go up a spring rate due to it being an e-bike or did you just user what the spring rate calculator said? Fox calculator has me at a 450 lbs spring. I'm about 170-175 lbs ready to ride

I’m about 175 all kitted up and I’m happy with 450 on a fox sls, I do also have a 500 sls but found it a bit too stiff. Conversely on a cane Creek Valt progressive spring I used a 450-550.

The frame isn't super progressive, so it's hard to say. I run a 550 spring, but feel I should have gone with a progressive spring of 500/600.

I have a Mezzer on front of my Rise 160mm & TTX coil on rear 210X55, though TF recommend adding 4kg for ebike weight of motor & battery! Not sure if CR is recommended for Rise due to linkage, limited to shock coil choice same as Levo!

Thanks. I think I'll start with the 450 sls spring and see how it goes.
Do you prefer the progressive or normal spring? Do they ride noticeably different?

Cheers!

Read this and other treads in entirety! It seems the consensus is that for mullet and desire for 160/160 a lot of people are using 8.5 x 2.5 shock size

Currently to get any additional rear travel from the bike the only way you can do that is to go with a 8.5"x2.5" shock. At least until Cascade Components can make a link for the Rise.

That’s incorrect, you can (if you search around) find a shock from a 2015-2017 trek slash that is 210x60mm, this is a direct bolt on with no mods needed and gives 152mm of rear travel. Typically this would be a rockshox monarch rc3.

I forgot about the 210x60mm Monarch, has anyone actually fitted one to a Rise though that you know of or are you just assuming it’ll fit because of the eye to eye and stroke?

I’ve got one here (rebound has blown on it) and did have it fitted, but I do prefer a coil shock which suits the majority of the riding I do over Dartmoor.

I have a 216X63 monarch Plus RTC3 shock with 1offset bushing, not as good as my TTX coil in 210x55 currently stripping it to service

Just ordered an H30 and planning to run it in mullet setup with 160mm in the front (29). For the rear (27.5), it sounds like 216x63 with two offset bushings is the way to go.

Question: Has anyone tried 216x57 (8.5x2.25) in the rear? Would the 7mm difference translate into ~150mm travel total? Would there be any issue with this setup? Pros and Cons? I am a newbie and still learning from the veterans on this forum... Thanks

57mm rear stroke would give 145mm of travel.

Installed a Bomber CR today on my new H30. I did NOT have to file or shave anything down for it to fit.
Unfortunately, because of weather (temp and snow) it will be awhile before i can test it out.

Having long stroked my ripmo AF, i have a bit of context for this bike. You dont want to just add travel for the sake of adding travel, if you keep the same eye to eye length and keep the sag in MM the same (which you should to keep kinematics as designed) then the extra travel is all happening at the top end. Unless you find yourself bottoming a lot you arent real gaining too much of actually usefull suspension where you live the most often. Theoretically it would lead to a more supple mid stroke since the air doesnt compress as much. You should ideally increase your eye to eye and stroke so that you can distribute that extra travel and down and up.

That’s a Zeb! What is the travel on that suspension? These forums are opening my eyes to how much potential there is in this bike

that bike is currently setup with 160mm on the front and 140mm in the rear. Rumour has it Cascade Components might be coming out with a link at some point, which I think could give it 150mm rear travel. Just a suspicion at the moment. This bike weighs 43lbs, which in my opinion is completely justified with how it rides and feels.

I would highly doubt Cascade will make a link for the rise unless it also works on other models. The business model has to be to make parts for bikes that A. there are enough out in the wild to justify it, and B. have an owner group likely to modify them. Considering there arent any Orbea links yet, i doubt this would be the first.
