Dengfu E10 - Build-up

Because there were a lot of assembly questions we could all share knowledge about bike assembly.

So there is my bike as it came - mat black finish - size XL with DC charging port on top, M600 motor, 840Wh battery. My initial plan was leave it without additional colour, but when I saw it i bought mat black acrylic 2K paint.

I put first layer the same day at 14.00 and it run on several areas. So I waited until 20.00, sand that areas and applied paint again.
It is a bit better now - still far from perfect, but can put some stickers on later if needed

The next day (yesterday) I start with build-up at 4.00, went to shop for additional parts from 10 to 11.30, head some lunch and first run at 15.00.

Switch is fixed with a nut on inside - in my case now just hand-tight - it is really heavy to go to nut with a tool.

Cable holders are nice - a bit tight but it fits.

Added some soft package material to prevent them hitting the frame an causing noises.

I put some cables back in big tube and as seen add silicone tube over rear brake tube on two sharp edges (first one is when it came inside the frame). I did not use the small cable holder that is meant to be used at DC port since it has sharp edges and some cables would go ba those edges.

Assure that motor fits well without any force - cables are hawing a lot of space if routed correctly.

I forgot to take pic before I took a first ride...ans I know - chain is not long enough - will get longer today.

I baptist my bike to fit to the family.

Hi,
just back from short city ride.
Front 160mm - back 210x55 (was 50 when I bought it - took it apart and remove spacer and made whole service).

I'm really impressed on that tubes - on straight could do 30km/h with no problem at level 0. Was actually sure that 0 still helps, so I turned off motor but no change there - really rolls good on asphalt and gravel.

I got first problem - cassette got loose and actually blocked rear wheel (low speed and 100m from bike shop so no problem) - need to tighten XD freehub enough.

It is my first eBike and of course it is 10kg more then old bike - so some time will pas to get just of it. It is really fast uphill and on a straight but at downhill and fast turns still no match for lighter bikes.

Bogdan, fantastic build!

My frame arrived today around 12am without any warning, shipper was DPD. I checked frame, good build, i found only 1 small issue which i fixed with epoxy easily. My painting skills are zero, so i decided to keep it "raw" with carbon not-finish look, maybe in winter i will do something.

Then i realized that i borrowed my service stand and its 500km away as I was not expecting delivery within may, so I first build stand from scrap-wood (its fine, i will call him Woody) and start with assembly.

I checked grease on pivot-link and I confirm, that chinese does not greese -> you need to dissasembly everything and grease as Rob said. Then i press a bushings (Rockshock superdeluxe 210/50 upgraded to 210/55 by removing spacer same as you) and pressed headset. Dengdu added headset, which is good quality and fits perfectly. I dont have presser, but piece of wood with small touch with gummy hammer did the work. Seatpost is 180mm OneEighty, there is still 3cm available in frame (I have Msize=17).

I will continue with build tommorow probably

Looks awesome! Is front ring standard 38T? What is largest size ring on rear cassette, how long does chain need to be?

By pivot link, do people mean the carbon frame area where the rear suspension links connect? If so, surely grease isn't placed on the carbon?

Or do people mean the 'bolt/screw' parts that connect through, or something else?

i marked related spots with red circles. i am parktool guy, so green lube from PT used. But any apropriate will do. In past i used from ATE Germany. Picture i used is bogdans machine , hope its not a problem.

Is front ring standard 38T? What is largest size ring on rear cassette, how long does chain need to be?

I bought cheap (6€) aluminium 36T on Ali* (Deckas 104BCD Round Narrow Wide Chainring MTB) and it fits great - is silent. Original is steel - 38T.
Cassette is also a cheap aluminium one from Ali* (ZRACE ALPHA 12s XD Cassette 12 Speed MTB Bike Freewheel 9-50T - Black,Compatible SRAM XD freehub, XX1 X01 GX NX Eagle). When I shift on power level 5 it hurts my heart and ear but works well for now (10 Speed Shimano SLX 11-46T waits at home if anything happens ).
Chain is cheapest 12Sp from Shimano CN-M6100 - also the shortest one - 116L. I bought another one the same length and use it as linkage donor - using 2 quick-links. Reason for that - it is hard to get long cheap chains right now and I head one reserve at home and the price is much lower - now I can buy only short chains and use just one new for linkage donors (quick-links are cheap). Change length from 116 to 122L - fits for my bike perfect.

No - I don't think that I need it. I tried it yesterday and it works - but no need for it.

Thanks. I understand where the pivot points are, but I'm still not understanding what you are lubing.

Is it the bushings in the pivot points, the bolt/nut that go into the pivot points, the sleeve [assuming there is one protecting the carbon?] the bolt/nut go into?

Are we sure these pivot pionts should be lubricated? Just asking because I can see after riding a dry and dusty area, that lube then attracts the dust thus becoming an abrasive and grinding the pivot piont. Just asking, not saying I am correct just curious about peoples experience.

My build is almost ready, just need to finish wire-cutting and some minor adjustments. 27.5/27.5 setup/ 190mm zeb ultimate/rs superdeluxe ultimate 210/50upgraded to 210/55. head angle 63 (my bosch is saying 63.5 but i know its 0.5 away). with 2.8 wheels i also confirm that even assist 1 is strong. I will probably need some tuning with assist setting from 0-5 to 0-9 or adjust torque mapping somehow.

SIde question: is it possible to lock bike with lock key, that battery is switched off? Or open/close is just for battery release.

Thats a nice freeride rig! Great build! The key is only to release the battery, no bike lock. What is the shock length/ travel You are using?

This is not a joint, the frame is not build out of 2 half frames and then glued together ?! Its the partition line of the tooling, no worries. Thats normal, depending on tool wear You will see this more or less. Ignore it, or sand it down and get the frame painted!

Shock is 210/50 converted to 210/55. Its because in february 210/55 was not available (i mean superdeluxe) and i hardly bought 210/50. .OPtion with 216/60 (or 63) and offside bushing was confirmed during my buying period and i was not ready to find out that frame hit seatpost as first one

Ok, so You still have the option to add some travel by upgrading to a 216 / 63 shock. With the massive big travel fork, I would think about it....rides awesome!

I make now short rides every day and I can also say that assist level 1 is strong. It does not help to switch to 0-9 since 1 is always the same 250 to 300W.
If someone finds a solution to make it less powerful (for long rides or if you riding with a pall that has 250W motor) please share this with us.

describe play. horizontal or vertical play? usual cases are as follow:

1. not correct assembly order.
2. is fork cut correctly? Is there 2-3mm below headset top?

maybe better to visit your local serviceman

Hi has anyone had trouble with the headset I can't get it tight so there is a little bit of play in it

I had the same issue, but I'd forgotten to change the crown race (the one from previous bike was still on). A quick swap to the dengfu one and all was good. I used the existing star nut too, as I'm want to fit a garmin top cap for my computer.

I did some foil wrapping the last days, to give the frame a bit of protection. Plan was to use the 3D camo only on some areas. Ending up with a fully wrapped frame (after almost complete disassembly), some mental breakdowns, 1sqm of expensive foil wasted and replaced, and one destroyed heat gun. I‘ll NEVER do that again. Is ist worth the effort? Time will tell...

Great work! Congratulations!

I tried wrapping the frame on a small section and immediately realised it was harder to do than spray painting. I ended up spray painting it and I now have alot of leftover polished steel vinyl wrap :S
