Hi folks,

Can anyone help please? I now longer get support from my M510 motor after what I thought was a successful motor rebuild;

About 3 weeks ago I put replacement bearings and oil seals on my m510 (v1), I also put a new controller (V2) and new torque sensor on as well, (the old one had become very stiff). After I put everything back together, I used the bsst tool to calibrate the controller and did support level, walk assist, motor and speed signal tests, then went on a short ride and all seemed to be working well. A few days ago I went to use the bike but there was no assistance from it. I connected the bsst tool and checked for error messages, there were none. I recalibrated the motor and went through the checks again, this time there was nothing when I did the speed signal test. Everything seems to work apart from that, I removed the motor and took off the controller and checked all the connections and all seems to be in place. I put the motor back on but it still does not work. I tried a different display unit but there was no difference, am not sure what else to check. Any ideas? Thanks.

Does the walk mode work ?

Yes it does.
I'd re-check all the power and assistance settings are correct and nothing is "zeroed" .. Though that would be unusual if it was working and now isn't.

You could check the torque sensor. Not sure if Besst gives a live feed ? The "Go" app in android (not go+) gives a live torque sensor feed, should default to about 750 with no loading.

Thanks for replying, I will do as suggested - when it stops raining!

Has anyone ordered a spare spider for the chainring yet?
I bought a new motor after the old one broke, but it has a non boost spider so offset is wrong, shifting sucks and I can't remount my chain guide.
I measured old and new spider and there is about 3mm difference. Still can't get the old spider off of the old motor, so would like to order a new spider. But none of the ones on Ali Express specify if boost or non boost version.

I had a weird thing happen to me yesterday on a big decent on a pretty gnarly downhill...the 32T chainring screws were all that loose they were ready to fall out!! luckily I caught it in time and re-tightened.. I'm now thinking someone had been tinkering with them screws deliberately in my underground shared garage (apartment block) - I have a neighbor whom I don't get along with atall... as I cannot see them screws coming loose!! I remember changing my 38T chainring to the supplied 32T not so long ago... and i remember tightening them with my torq wrench to correct NM!! - anyways.. not the reply you were looking for... have you tried asking the question in the chat window on Aliexpress? I always find most of them very helpful.....

Haven't used AliExpress much. I'll have a look how the chat works. Thanks for the tip

Haven't had any luck yet looking through AliE and asking shops. Has anyone removed the chainring and spider yet and can tell me if there is a spacer beneath (like they advertise for the M620 motor)?
This may explain the offset and also habing enough space to fit the screws of the chain guide to the ISCG tabs.

There is no spacer on M500 or M510. You need special tool to remove the chainring. Also it has counter clockwise thread, be careful.

Thanks for the answer, then the search for the correct spider continues. Haven't found a single one that looks like the one originally installed.

I know that it's left threaded, but the original tool is much to weak. First tool I ordered didn't fit due to crank length, next try with a different tool sometime next week.

why don't you just buy a new chainring??

I’m looking for some help. I stripped my M510 motor to re grease and conformal coat the PCB. I reassembled the motor and it works fine apart from the fact there is a creaking sound when I put the power down on the pedals. I can also hear the creak momentarily when stop pedalling. When the motor is under load the motor sounds ok with no creaking sound.

All mounting hardware including spider lock ring is nice and tight so I believe the sound is coming from the motor internally.

Can anyone help me diagnosing the cause? I will strip the motor down again later for further inspection.

Pretty clear, no rubbing at all. Yes you also get some spacers in the package. Happy with it, zero drops so far.
hey bud, So I received the chain guard like yours in photo today... and we went to fit it, but it won't fit on my motor... It rubs really bad against the chainring... no idea if I've got a different motor... or what... but it rubs..

Like i said before, it is straight fit, bolted directly to the motor, no washers used anywhere. It doesn't interfere with anything. It just works.

hmmm..... well mine don't... when I put the 2 bolts in (with no washers) then I put the chainring back on... it interferes with the chainring big time...so mine must be slightly different...who knows..
