The Scandinavian EMTB guy said the Gen 3 Levo felt very similar to ride to the Merida E160!

The changes I made to my Levo Comp ( !60mm fork with no sit down/riser bars/additional spacer under the stem) did require a little adjustment of riding position for optimum climbing but not huge. It still climbs better seated but with the saddle half slammed and me perched on the nose of the saddle ( I left the flip chip in the low position). I can imagine it would not take a lot more to mean having to lean over the bars to keep the front down.......and probably lose rear wheel traction as a result!

So if I went mullet I think I would go to high on the flip chip.

High position on flip chip .
And the difference between 2.5 Maxxis and 2.6 Schwalbe is noticeable for ground clearance .

To feed @Zimmerframe's need to understand the multiple motor failure rate experienced by some, whilst others had no problems:-

I have no doubt Specialized's ability to understand the issue fully a lot earlier were hampered by the fact that warranty motor returns were dealt with by Brose rather than Specialized. I think it is feasible that there was mis-diagnosis by LBS in some cases. It also seems likely that warranty return motors were recycled when Brose fixed the symptom ( e.g broken or damaged belt) rather than the cause or causes. Hence repeat failures.

We can only guess at what went on behind the scenes but I would guess a major review was initiated...........a review possibly reinforced by Specialized's decision to use a different motor for the SL launch developed with Mahle.
The resultant revisions included new seals, uprated sprag bearings and an uprated belt...........water ingress and sprag bearing failures being the root cause of most issues I reckon. It also included a software update said to remove power spikes that were potentially damaging to the motor albeit not noticeable to the rider. That sounds like a partial concession to Brose by Specialized to me!

With the additional protection for the charger plug and an IP rated TCU, added to the motor upgrades, it does sound to me like previous problems have been resolved. Time will tell of course.

Other detail I noticed was shorter crank arms .
My old buddy Gary has been telling us for years its bad riding technique and no need for shorter cranks . But ,, now Spesh has put short cranks on too ??
Can`t beat em , join em ?? lol .

The bike's aimed at dentists and tubby IT consultants, not enduro-bros. Spesh are just speccing the bike based on the expected user base.

Not even sure why everyone is talking about the 2022 Levo. It's not like you can actually buy one. I ordered a 2021 SWorks Levo over year ago and it never arrived. I have a 2022 SWorks Levo on order and have very little confidence I will actually receive it. I placed my 2022 Levo order over 6 months ago.

Good news on the battery. @Levo19 was correct, the main "battery" is the same. The bash/rock guard is different, so you just have to swap that over.

I guess this will mean that if you order an M2 in the future, it will come with the traditional bash guard and if you order the M3, it will come with the newer rock guard with the Aqua door.

Presumably as you can buy existing replacement rock guards, you'll also be able to buy replacement Gen3 rock guards at some point.

The "Packing Bung" is also different and would need to be swapped as the frame is a different shape. - this lives at the top of the battery and holds it in place.

Or just stop being so tight and buy two bikes so you have a spare of everything already  ;)

Mike - do you know for sure that new and replacement motors have new seals? I think @Bearing Man said that until he gets into a recent 2.1 motor he doesn't know that for sure. It would be good to get some unequivocal information on that. Without the internal mod he does to seal the motor from external water ingress, rather than the internal sprag clutch just sealing to prevent grease escaping, these motors will always be vulnerable to water migrating along the crankshaft and eventually finding its way into the motor. That's why the two 'X' ring seals he puts on the crank behind the the crank arms are so important as a first line defence
I have read so many reviews so I cannot remember which one talked a bout it! I would guess many of the "upgrades" were progressively done to the 2.1 motor, but the full monty with the 2.2 motor. My motor has 2 years warranty to run and the longer it goes without problems the more likelihood its replacement will be the 2.2 ( assuming it does not break 25 months from now!!)

This is a slide from a Specialized presentation explains supply issues and lead times on parts they are currently experiencing, from a pink bike article

Cheers, that's an interesting link and pretty much mirrors what's going on in my world. Screw toilet paper, need to start stockpiling mechs!

So only positive comments are welcome, very political and not a true representation of what people think
To Clarify, as you presumably didn't understand the note. This is the GEN3 Levo thread. It's where people will come to find information on the bike. The price and availability of Rolex's and Zimmer's jokes aren't really informative information for people to scroll through when looking for information. The posts which didn't seem relevant to the main thread have been moved to a parallel thread, where you're more than welcome to continue to express as many (none relevant) opinions as you like.

yes and the information you are showing is only ones of a positive representation, you are misinforming people, there's plenty information on spesh site, but good and bad comments should be left alone and let people make there own minds up on whether its the bike for them.

Obviously this will be moved - as it's also irrelevant !

I'm sorry you feel that way. Yes. I moved your Rolex discussion - because - I will repeat again as you obviously still don't understand - it has nothing to do with the Levo Gen3. Repeat questions and answers have also been moved, because fortunately most forum members are not so thick that they can still remember what they read on the previous post.

Are you upset about the price still ? I think it's clearly stated that it's expensive and posts are left in place that say that .. Let me help you ..

Post 2 : "ITS A LOT OF MONEY!!"
Post 3 : "Its a lot of money"
Post 6 : "SIX THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS STERLING. Feck. Me. Ragged!"
Post 11 : "Is it april fools already? What a bike... what a price"
Post 18 : "Pornograf$c pr$ce$"
Post 19 : (by you) "The price is over engineered never mind the bike, 13k for a bike, you need your head examined paying that much, what the hell was specialized thinking."
Post 21 : "Hope that kind of price cover´s motor and frame lifetime warranty ?"

Or a random not impressed comment , Post 28 "Just because this is so called face lift not a new gen. Same motor, battery, kinematics. You can get all the info from new TCU displayed on Garmin and ina much better way as it is hard to look at TCU while riding."

That's just from the first page.

If you want to be involved in discussing the actual bike, please feel free to continue here. If you just want to have a natter with the girls, then please use the other thread.

I'll make this clear, because I don't intend to spend my time cleaning up your none relevant comments as they're just an inconvenience to anyone who actually has any genuine interest in the bike - you will be banned from the thread. Your call.

Edited to add more first page examples.

Sadly there isn't a ??? option in the reactions !!

Congratulations.

I would have bought one myself, but I wasn't sure about the colours and I thought I'd get more fun winding my watch.
Just text me anytime you forget to wind your Rolex Buddy. Always happy to share the time with friends...

Hey, all my positive posts have moved to the chit chat thread. I don't think this thread fairly represents peoples personal shopping habits or hormonal reactivity anymore ! [Insert EmoJi - Throws toys out of pram]

Just to add some clutter : nice post from @Bigtuna00 about the backwards compatibility of the TCU for anyone who's not seen it :

So my take on this (My serious boring post for the month) ..

I don't think anyone was really expecting a new model to this extent.

With Covid limiting interaction, working, shipping, production, supplies it's kinda impressive they managed to pull this thing together ! (unless you're grumpy, then it's just rubbish).

The bike's expanded the envelope of what an "All Purpose"?!? bike can actually do.

OK, yes, we only have the "Billionaire" spec versions available. But if you can only source so many parts, assemble and ship so many bikes, it's common sense to start with them.

We have an Expert "Millionaire" spec bike due out with less exotic components. My guess would be late Spring early Summer. Lets face it demand is still high and supplies are still low so that in itself will probably be a logistical nightmare - it's difficult to find ANY bike to buy at the moment.

In my opinion, Specialized are always pushing the market and are generally ahead of everyone else. Whilst the current Levo is an excellent and capable bike (ok, I do like it really) , I'm sure they'll want to stay ahead of the game. Having spent a fortune developing the GEN3, they're not going to let that investment goto waste, so I suspect the "main stream" bikes will probably arrive late Summer/Early Autumn. In the meantime, if you can find one ... you can still buy Gen2 bikes ... exactly as you could/would have if they'd not released the surprising GEN3 ?

Lordy, that was painful .. I'm off to find a thread to say something dumb(er).
