Is that stock weight? I don’t see how the new one could be heavier. The Gen 5 motor should be 100 grams lighter and the new 800 Wh battery is 400 grams lighter than the previous 750 Wh battery.

Yes that is stock weight, added ME700 spd pedals and lighter tyres. Weighed in at 23.4kg

Looking at the weight doesn’t mean I’m worried about it. I wouldn’t buy it if I was. But since this is an enthusiast forum, weight is a factor (among others) in both handling and distance. And as an enthusiast I’m curious about the factors that go into the weight. Is that okay with you?

The extra weight was needed, I have seen 2 cracked Rail frames and trek increased the travel on the new rail. More travel generally means people are going to ride them harder.

If I am racing bio then I am concerned about grams overall. On a full-power ebike not so much, but I am concerned about performance and counting grams on rotational and unsprung mass is critical. I have run 170mm forks on my rails for last four years and stroked the shock to 62.5mm.

For a given price point manufacturers should be selling us Al frames with carbon wheels instead of carbon frames with Al wheels.
