Have asked a few times. Sadly they haven’t got one to loan. I have a motor group test video with 6 different motors coming out soon, I asked them a few times but was unable to get one included :-(

I had to accept a C70 instead of the pre-ordered C90 Rally because of .. well, the world situation.

Anyway, I get it in June if you’d doodle across the oil rigs and windpower plants and would like a go. South of Norway. Usually warm, dry and sunny then. Cabin in a scenic highland-like mostly rock area with about 120km of sign-marked mtb tracks, about 1:50h:m from intl airport by Tesla. I have beers and own room if you have merch, stories, comparisons and tuning tips.
I’ll be on this 2021-gen

Can’t see why there won’t be more in Britain for other forum users by then though. Assuming there are dealers. It’s an emtb from the Queen’s Commonwealth after all

I'm in Canada in the Rocky Mountain hometown of Vancouver, and I'm having trouble getting one of these new Altitudes. Maybe later in the year...

Showing to be a versatile rig in changing riding position height with adjustable geo, has anyone contemplated to mullet this rig?.... Asking as l am 5-6.... After a brief blast and yeah noticed the power delivery over my old medium 27.5 2019 Norco sight.... Altitude indeed felt greatly capable.... I held back on purchase due to the stand over height.... Hence l thought to throw it out here regarding lowering stand over by the ways to bolt a 27.5 or mullet set up!.... if need be adhere to a possible flipping of the frame geo adjustments to raise BB to avoid peddle strikes.
Ok thanks!

I considered mulleting, but I sold my other bike with a compatible rear hub.

Super easy, stick it in position 4 and get shorter cranks 🙂

I should add, I previously done this on my Rocky slayer and it was awesome!

But that was more for park with minimal pedalling haha. Hence why I'd suggest getting shorter cranks for a pedally bike 🙂

Yeah right ok, so in mullet possible peddle strike in position 4 with 160mm cranks.... bump the fork to 180mm.... but then may blur the whole point in reducing stand over height.

If you're worried about standover just don't put your feet down 🤷‍♂️😂
I've got a 180mm on mine, if I find a wheel I'll do some measuring for you.
But find a buddy with a 27.5 wheel with the same drivetrain (and 6 bolt rotor) and swap things over for free and in less than 10mins. Just to try it out

Well, turns out the misso's bike rear wheel fits.
BB drops from 340mm to 330. I left it in pos 2.

Yeah mullet sits nicely in this image and with 180 fork throffen.... My old 2019 Norco sight copped a cracken decent hit cracked the motor casing butchering bearings.... but it seems it can be rebuilt, some liquid alloy new bearing, news arrived for me today...

I test road a medium altitude and for the most part felt good l liked, now l see yours in mullet, yeah throffen! Just think maybe a small fame would better fit as l am 5.6.

The Norco sight has had many upgrades, Zebs 170mm rear EXT coil bike rides good just recon l need more travel.

Thanks for providing me on the inner workings with the altitude with image, my next step is to go follow up with the altitude geo specks info....
cheers!

No worries mate.
I double checked, I actually had it on positions 3. In pos 4 will lift BB 4mm.

HTA was around 62deg with aforementioned 180mm fork too.

I'm looking at these at the moment as a replacement for my Merida e160. I wondered what the real world what the benefits are of the Carbon over the Alloy? The A70 is at my price point but there is a slightly niggle moving to an alloy bike. Having only had carbon e-bikes previously I wonder if i'm just being a snob (I suspect so). Does anyone have any info on the differences in weight? I'm finding that extra £1500 hard to justify.

It's definitely a heavy bike. The A70 is around 26kg, it's noticeably heavier than my alloy e160. But you don't really feel that on the trail.
The difference in weight is about 1.5kg between the a70/c70.
I can't comment if the 2 have different ride characters, I chose alloy for its durability 🙂

Thanks for the info Rob. I suspect my E160, being carbon may even widen that weight gap. It's probably only something i'd notice lifting it in and out of the van. However the trails i ride are steep and tight, rather than fast and flowing, so slow speed maneuverability is where i worry about the weight factor. I did think about downsizing as a mitigating option for this. If only there was more availability to demo and get my hands on one in Scotland. It's a lot of money to spend blindly, but if the reviews are anything to go by it may be worth the punt....

Yeah I only notice the weight difference putting it on my vertical bike stand and when trying to get shape off a jump. Both just require different technique haha.

I don't think you can go wrong size wise, smaller and recommended sizes will work just fine. I'm 5'10 on a L and initially the bike did feel a bit wieldy vs my e160, but I realise now it's more the 29er factor.

And you're in luck, for super steep tech it's waaaay better than the e160 was. The extra stability means you can point and shoot, but it still retains the accuracy and handling to pick gentle lines. I rode the steepest tech I've ever attempted last weekend and it was a breeze.

The reviews are pretty spot on too, if you're after a unique ebike that can do everything these are the ticket.

Dropped into one of my local Rocky stores today with the goal of pre-ordering. I was originally told they were all sold out. But I saw a nice new A70 sitting there. I asked about it, and they said a guy wanted it two weeks ago, but hadn't paid a deposit, and they haven't heard from him since. Said I could have it! Popped a pair of pedals on it, and took it for a spin. Felt good, and with a few mods I think it will be a really good fit. Ordered a few upgrades which should be ready in a few weeks and then I get to collect! Really looking forward to 720 Wh battery and 108nM motor.

I do already have a Commencal Meta SX Power, but I finally admitted to myself recently that it's too big for me. It's a great bike, but if it's too big, then it's too big... I also have a Decoy, which is smaller and fits me much better. Each time I'd ride the Commencal and then the Decoy I'd notice the difference more and more.

I've had Rocky bikes in the past, but not a Rocky ebike. Looking forward to being a member of the club again! Especially as Rocky are a local company.

The bike looks really well put together and the specs are very good and competitive with much higher priced bikes like Specialized and Santa Cruz.

Been out on my A70 now for 300+ km. It is easier to throw around than my previous 2020 Rail 7, even though them being roughly the same weight.

The A70 in L fits btw. 3" WTB Rangers without rubbing even on a bit more aggressive riding, which is nice here is snowy Finland. In the picture I have the Ice Spikers on a second wheel set.

Only bad thing to say about the bike is the fiddle dropper lever, will swap that out to a Turbine lever soon.

I ridden your A70 yet and if so how does it compare to your Commencal?

Which year is your commencal and what sizes do you have?

I have a YT Capra 2016 large and a Commencal Meta SX Power 2021 also large and the capra is more fun for me than the Commencal, so I also think my Commencal is to large and was also considering a powerplay. I am a bit disappointed that they didn't made a setting for mullet on the powerplay.

For what it's worth the only benefit a mullet would offer on this bike is butt clearance.
It has pretty short chainstays already and the bikes weight will negate any manoeuvrability gain you might get from the smaller wheel.
It rocks as a full 29er, one of the best handling bikes I've ever ridden.

I definitely prefer the A70 over the Meta. The Commencal is too heavy in the backend, but it doesn't help its too big for me. I used to prefer larger size analog bikes, but with the ebikes I'm preferring the smaller sizes.

I contacted Rocky, and they said with the regular Altitude it's ok to run it as a mullet, but the motor is tuned for a 29" wheel so it's best to leave it as a 29'er.

What size Commencal do you have and what size A70?
