I think the following quote is what I was struggling to remember:
“The Shimano STEPS E8000 offers three assistance modes (Eco, Trail and Boost) and is the strongest motor in our group test. The optimalcadence for it to produce its maximum output is around 70–90 rpm. Conversely, under 50 and...
Interesting, I do enjoy this kind of information but find its a bit easy to make too much of the stats. I do almost all my riding in Eco mode, which I have turned a little bit higher than normal, with occasional use of Trail mode for extremely difficult climbs.
Let me add that I find this graph...
It just comes down to what works best for me. I generally get two or three rides out of a charge, so don’t charge it unless I think I will need it for the next ride. Then I will charge to 100% and unplug the charger once the LEDs show that the battery is fully charged. Unless I forget, but the...
I tested the new app and it worked like a charm. I actually just kept the phone in my pocket, and looked at the data later but it recorded the whole time and everything looks good. The mapping is really neat!
Interesting, one of the benefits that sold me on my first Camelbak, 25+ years ago, was getting the weight off my bike frame. Not as big a deal with an e-bike, but I haven't used a water-bottle cage since. When I'm riding light I just put a water bottle into my jersey pocket.
I'm an old Clydesdale that should've been put out to pasture years ago but keep on riding! I bought a Felt Redemption (Shimano 8000) a couple of months ago. It's about 51 lb/23 kg, I'm about 238 lb/108 kg. Bike is awesome. I've tuned it with ST Unlocker and ride mostly in ECO. Favorite thing is...
Well, then, if you ride Shimano you must get the new ST Ride app! It is a number-guy's wet dream! Maybe an exaggeration, but it's pretty cool! Keeps stats and does mapping, too!
My battery says n100% after 9 cycles. Wondering if it's like the gas gauge that stays on full for 80 miles and then drops to 3/4 tank. Or like the iPhone battery meter.
ECO 65% 40Nm
TRAIL 100% 55Nm
BOOST 125% 70Nm
WEIGHT 238 lbs
Just began experimenting with tuning a couple of weeks ago. More interested in maximizing rains then excessive power.
