That's a good point, and I think I probably would prefer to being in command of the transmission. I was just thinking that it does seem like we're almost there as far as the ability to have automatic shifting. But just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD do something. Also...
Definitely I would want to be able to disable the system and choose went to shift “manually”, But it seems as if everything needed is there, already. You already have a torque sensor, the motor knows the cadence, DI2 knows what gray you’re using and tells the mech when to move, you just need a...
Boy, that would annoy me no end. Those batteries insert from the side, correct? My shimano battery goes in underneath which I hate because that means it's always covered with mud. Why oh why didn't they design it to go in from the top!? What's the downside, no pun intended?
I also find it my quads are paying the price for getting an e-bike. The rest of my body is getting a rest, but I'm spending much more time out of the saddle working on my bike handling skills around curves and always feel it in my quads and knees. Overall, my body is grateful.
BTW, I actually commented weeks ago. It really irks me how many places here in the states prohibit ebikes on trails the allow other bikes, namely national forests. There are a few jerks riding around on electric throttle-bikes giving us pedal-assisted bikers a bad name.
