The only suggestion I have, is since it's your 1st mtb and you have a kid (which will limit your trail time), is to get a commencal with a cheaper spec. The money you save can be used to buy nice bikes for your kids.
This is good info, but you could have conveyed it without the e-car hate. The amount of energy going to heat that battery a few months out of the year is extremely small. You didn't point out that more energy is going to heat the cabin of the car (using the battery) than the little bit of...
That's great. Any other organizations in the US advocating for us?
If anyone has any success stories or suggestions for how to get some change going, share it here. With the BLM and FS both lumping us in with dirt bikes we have some work to do.
I've only had mine for a month+. The longest ride I did was 36 mi, some very technical and steep, 4550 ft elevation gain. 5.5 hrs, mostly eco, but a fair amount of trail, then boost when I was on the way home, until it dropped to eco for the last mile ( < 1 bar). Several rides with 2...
My wife and I are both about 5'10" and test rode the medium and the large. My wife has long legs (34") so it's hard to get a good fit for her. We both liked the medium better because it felt snappier. The 125mm dropper post that comes with the medium was too short for her, and maybe too...
It's all BLM & FS, so mostly no. There are some moto trails: monarch crest, greens creek, and rainbow. I'm going to ramp up my advocacy with the BLM and FS.
My 1st big ride on the commencal, shimano motor, I pushed it and myself to the limit on a steep rocky trail that nobody except dirt bikes typically use.
36 mi, 4500 ft of climbing. About 4 hrs of moving time.
Yes, this is key. I just played with this in the driveway. If in 1st and you're pushing at any speed at all you're pushing faster than the motor wants to assist. At 1st I thought it's going to be a big pain cuz if you need to walk, you're probly in 1st gear, but I discovered that since the...
They don't have any dealers in the US. There US HQ is in Golden. I demoed them at a demo event in Snowmass. My last 2 bikes are 29ers, 27.5+ this time, the meta power race probably
They were at the top of my list, not sure now. Good price and coil spring shock. +$500 & no coil spring for the essential. I don't mind buying without a dealer network, but there has to be a good savings. Also it's too bad that the coil spring shock is only available on the top model.
