Firstly, I know these look terrible but they seem to work very well.
I wear 510 impact pro high tops and water was getting in through the lace/tongue part of the shoe. It was the front tire flinging water that did it even though I run a mudhugger fender.
I cut a pair of flaps out of some black...
So, since the in between season seems to be getting longer each year (fall/spring) I've decided to start looking for a set of skinny, studded tires for my sc bullit.
As of now I'm riding my norco bigfoot vlt fattie but fat tires aren't exactly tough enough for our rocky terrain. I've already...
I'd love a set of 155 or 160mm. I tried bugging 5dev to make shorter fat cranks for the ep8 but im guessing its a limited market...
Shoot them an email, can't hurt to bug them a bit more..
Thanks! The upgrades still didn't keep me from eating shit today lol. What was left of the old snow was packed and icy with a inch and a half of fresh floof on it so the rocks were super sketchy.
At least I had someone to console me and bring me sticks while I was down...

The Bigfoo got some upgrades before winter set in. Threw a set of hayes dominion a4 brakes on as well as some 76mm wide 27.5" Whisky carbon/i9 wheels. She stops a hell of a lot better with the hayes compared to the shitbox sram Guidos that came on it and the tubeless carbon wheel setup shed a...
Those trailcross ones have the old man who wears jorts and owns a corvette look to them, a little too new balancy for me I'm afraid.
Pics of the 2 best 5 10 models ever made, Impact high tops and Chris Kovaric signature 1/2 highs. The lace covers on the CK's are a wonderful feature that makes...
Yup, that was the only negative my beloved original impacts had. The new ones don't have nearly as much padding and the material doesn't let water in as much as the oldies did.
I actually made spats that go over the laces for mine to deflect the water thrown up by the front tire out of black...
I used to ride the old 5 10 impact high tops religiously but was forced to switch to the newer Impact pros when I couldn't find any more of the oldies in my size. I still prefer the old ones but the new ones seem to be wearing great and I like the feel on the pedals (oneup). The soles aren't as...
The front tire steers and does most of your braking, you should be running a little less pressure in it compared to the rear to unlock its full traction potential. The rear supports most of your weight and takes more abuse because of it so running it higher helps a lot with rolling resistance...
If youre willing to try something different NF - Technical MTB Apparel Handmade in Canada makes some killer pants, waterproof and regular. Imop they've got the most comfortable waist elastic deal going and they don't use belts or straps that dig into your mid section.
I've got a bunch of...
Can't really add much to this conversation that hasn't been covered already but I can recommend Uberbike race matrix brake pads. Great performance and long life, been using them exclusively on my Hayes dominion a4's without issue.

That's what our trails look like as well. After a heavy snow we head out on snowshoes then the hikers follow the tracks and pack things down more. Groomed trails, although fast and fun in their own way, aren't nearly as challenging.
If youre from BC check out the top tube pad on my norco in...
Front/full suspension will all depend on where and how you ride. If you're doing groomed stuff all the time and your trails aren't rough then you absolutely don't need fs. I for one would always opt for a front suspension fork on any bike but if your trails are smooth then thats not really...
Did you look at the Foes fat Eticket?
Bosch drive unit
Full suspension 150/150mm
Usa made aluminum frame welded together by an mtb hall of famer (Brent Foes)
Up to date geometry
Available as a frame or full build
You can buy the regular e ticket rear triangle and set it up skinny for...
If you're riding in substantial snow a 27.3x3 won't cut it. You want to be able to ride in the single digit psi's to get the largest footprint possible, a 3" tire won't do that.
If youre actually interested in a class 1 fat ebike buy from a known brand like rocky or norco. Most of the others...
Mine isn't as bad as yours in that area and I have worse scratches and chips on my seatstays, dropouts and down tube. It all kind of matches now lol. Shit, I panic ejected off the bike 3x in the last 2 rides so there's probably a few I've yet to find.
