Lumens aren't as important as the marketing folks make them out to be. The quality of the beam goes a lot further to make the light usable.
I swapped from a Gemini unit with all the lumens and much prefer the outbound setup for trail riding.

I ride maxxis tires usually in a dh casing, I do run double down up front if I have to. The tough casings are the most important part and cushcore f/r helps a whole lot too.

I ride a 23' norco bigfoot vlt 1 ep8 with the 27.5 wheels and previously had an 18' gen 1 vlt bigfoot e8000 with 26" wheels.
Both are great and make all the difference in the snow compared to a muscle fattie. Winter is actually where an ebike shines brightest imop especially if you get proper...
Outbound lights are the only lights. I have the dh evo bar/helmet combo and I can ride technical trails just as fast at night as in the day time.

Gertrude the 10 year old black lab was a fu#*ing champ today! She kept up without issues and had a blast.

I find muscle bikes just feel wierd now when I ride them downhill. I guess I'm used to the extra weight down low now that I've been eebing the last two seasons but regular bikes feel twitchy and the suspension doesn't seem to work nearly as well...

My actual ep8 failure experience.
The ep8 on my bullit went out at 1800ish km after being flawless. The story I got (roughly a month and a half ago, in Ontario Canada) was that shimano had no units available and it wouldn't be replaced till december which was a huge bummer.
Luckily, when the...
