I ride hard enduro trails as well, my first preference, also race enduro on non assist bikes.
My race bike this season was a '18 Specialized Enduro 29 with a Fox 36 front and Float X2 rear, so quite capable, last year was a Yeti SB5.5C. The Commencal Meta Power 29 is every bit as capable as...
People are doing that to Stumpjumper Evos with fine results. On those bikes there is a spacer within the shock they are removing to get the bump in travel. On that they are going from a 50mm to 55mm stroke. 2019 Stumpjumper EVO thread - Page 5- Mtbr.com
I bet you are okay. Since the shock...
29er is good! RockShox Super Deluxe coil is also SO good. New Lyrik is quite good too although I think I am going to extend it to 160 even thinking of 170 if I can from the stock 150mm of travel.
I demoed one for a day and a half and really enjoyed it. I thought that the power from the motor played really well with the suspension kinematics and descending was a joy. Was also quite playful. Personally I liked it better than the Pivot Shuttle but that may have been held back a bit by...
I realize I never updated here that I bought a '19 Meta Power Race 29 about 3 weeks ago.
It's been absolutely awesome and is a beast in every way. Have matched some best descending times compared to a Yeti SB5.5C and that's at 3rd overall on segment with like 3000 riders. Not bragging just...
Good review. I demoed one recently too from the new Specialized Experience center in Boulder, CO. Same model, Turbo Levo Carbon Comp.
I agree that the frame design, construction, kinematics and geometry are all very good. At 73 inches or 185.42 cm but a armspan of 75.5" or 191.77cm I chose...
I'd say use whatever you are used to, however due to the heavier chassis of an ebike flats work better on an ebike I think. The bike isn't being disturbed as much and is more planted than a normal bike. So if you've wanted to try flats but have hesitated, try them on the ebike.
I ride flats...
That power graph is also not very complimentary to Shimano but it is from I've read and seen universally praised by all riders.
I rode the new Levo and the new Brose it had seemed very similar to the Shimano but did seem to do better at high rpm.
Yeah I demoed a 19 and loved the bike (which I should review) but the motor was definitely louder than the outgoing model. Unfortunate really as being stealth just avoids so much bs, ah well. Overall the new Levo is so, so much better than the outgoing bike.
Ride normal bikes hard too and components wear fast. I've gone through five rear tires already this season on my Enduro bike . Pay to play.
I think manufacturers are going to start making emtb specific stuff that will be more robust and last longer. Schwalbe just came out with Emtb...
I don't own one yet but will soon.
For me ebikes offer four great things.
1. You can do rides and focus on descents. Lots of descents. Especially when time crunched. It can be the difference of 1 main descent to 3 or 4 in the same amount of time. As a dad with two young kids and limited...
Very fun bike. I'm lucky in that the US distributor is 20 mins from my house. I demoed the '18 Meta Power 29 and liked it a lot. It was really fun and descended really well. Also climbed very well with great geometry. It is heavy though which isn't that big of a deal but I suspect it affects...
Bike looks great! Let us know how it is climbing with the dual crown fork. To elaborate I am curious if it affects negotiating tricky areas with the limited sweep.
Also you can get custom Fox stickers. Just google or maybe someone will chime in. You've gone this far might as well go the...
Yeah it's pretty hilarious. Mostly it's from people who haven't tried emtbs and are just being ignorant. There is some legitimate reasons to be afraid due to trail access issues. However I've found that just like in all things in life most people are good and there are a few assholes. Here...
Thanks for the reply. Still interested.
Would something like a 2.5WT Maxxis DHF be to small of a diameter and thus maybe lowering BB too much? For my riding areas and speed I find I need a more robust casing (DD or DH) and cushcore in the rear. Looking to see what kind of tire options...
