Any recommendations on a home bike stand for my e-mtn bike.

I’ve got the park tool pcs 9.2 and it is very good for my needs, fine for heavy emtb’ s as well. Sturdy and well made, and the price isn’t that bad, about £150 I think, but you might get deals. And it should last years.

    Cycling on pavements...

I try not to use the bell for this exact reason, especially through parks, cycle ways etc with kids, dogs etc. Prefer just to cycle with the flow and slowing down in plenty of time. Thinking about it, I had intended the bell to be a polite way of alerting our presence as we were going at walking...

    Cycling on pavements...

Agree that ignorance is no defence and yes it is clearly an offence. I have lived in the same area for 6 years, and cycled there thousands of times, as do plenty of others. As it’s a hospital there is a heavy police presence there at most times, and never seen anyone stopped, even those on the...

    Cycling on pavements...

Yes it clearly is an offence, but thee seems to be a grey area given the guidance above. Had the PCSO’s claimed we were cycling irresponsibly then I would understand why they threatened us. But they did not, so I don’t believe they understand the above guidance. We were certainly not cycling in...

    Cycling on pavements...

I totally get that, but, when FPN were introduced, it was clear they were not to be issued to responsible cyclists, and it makes clear that some cyclists are not comfortable on busy roads and are allowed to cycle on pavements if they do so responsibly. But I also discovered that PCSO’s have the...

    Cycling on pavements...

Was just stopped by two PCSO’s outside a hospital in London, cycling slowly as was going to use the cash point there. Rang my bell behind the two PCSO’s so we could pass. We can’t have been cycling more than 4mph. There were no other people on the 3m wide pavement. They threatened us with a £50...

    No, ebikes aren’t cheating

I think you’re confusing a 93% heart rate compared to those who aren’t on an ebike, with that somehow being only 7% “assistance”. I don’t think the data says that. It just says that those on an ebike are getting 93% of the cardiovascular workout (heart rate) than those who are on non ebikes...

    No, ebikes aren’t cheating

I suppose it will depend on how you ride. These results do tally with how I see it myself though.

    No, ebikes aren’t cheating

https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/13/20963426/ebike-exercise-fitness-heart-rate-study-science-electric-bike Thought this was interesting, those on ebikes heart rates are 93% of those riding the same trail on an analogue bike.

Hi, from Newcastle,UK - best e bike for under £2k?

I haven’t bought from them, and I do know at present they are only releasing a set number if bikes for sale per day (due to high demand). But they have plenty of stores in the UK and the bikes are built in Germany I think. There is plenty of info about them in other threads on here. But the...

Hi, from Newcastle,UK - best e bike for under £2k?

And I am sure there are other brands that are better around the 2 grand mark, that’s just one. But the Stilus seems to be very good value, although a little more than you want to spend. Good luck ?

    Online buying, non uk

I would also be concerned that as of next year, if there is no deal with the EU, does that have any implications for sending a bike to the EU for repair?

    Buying a new e-bike in the U.K.

I know the feeling, took me a good few months to decide, then by the time I did there were none left. I had decided on a Trek Rail 5, but it was going to be many months wait. But I got the Whyte a week later. Very happy I must say. Good luck!

    Buying a new e-bike in the U.K.

When I asked about this at the LBS they said you should never pay the final amount. You can extend the higher period for a small fee or just had the bike back to them and start again. My employer also said they wouldn’t charge the final amount I believe. Either way never pay it. It’s not as if...
