I have a WolfTooth 34 on my aluminum Comp, fits and works ok with the chainguide. Another poster says his same ring hits the chainstay, we don't know why.
The dropper on my medium SL drops to the top of the collar, about 19 mm thick. Distance from crank center to saddle rail when fully dropped is about 463 mm.
Upgrades depend on where you ride and how you ride. Mine did not "need" anything, then after a hundred miles or so I wanted smaller wheels so I went with 27.5; the bars felt too wide so I trimmed them a few inches; the gearing felt too short so I installed a 34T chainring. No more changes...
The SL adds 240 watts so for an average rider that puts us at pro rider power levels. The 35 n*m is low compared to a Levo but we can make up for some of that with rpm. I am really happy with my SL and prefer alloy.
I took my SL to the LBS for the motor firmware update (42.6.1c) that Mission Control alerted me about and to get my wheel circumference set for my 27.5" wheels (85.94"). After getting my bike back (in less than 24 hours !!!) I noticed no difference in how it responds but it should provide...
I am seeing similar results with my Levo SL, where my average and peak heart rate is about the same as it is with my MTB. I just go faster and get more of a breeze which is nice in hot, humid weather. We are probably used to a certain level of exertion and will do that no matter what we are...
Joe Rocket has some trousers with armour (silly people, they call them pants with armor). They are made for motorcycling and may be a bit much but some have stretchy parts and may work.
Mishmash Control shows that my bike is due for some firmware updates, motor included. These may change it to what you are getting. I plan to take it to the LBS soon anyway to get my wheel circumference adjusted (I changed to 27.5" wheels) so I will see what the result is and report on it.
Well, damn if mine (SL Comp, US spec, purchased March 2020) didn't flash "Sport" then switch to "Trail'. But wait, there's more... I switched the bike off and on again and it displays "Sport" now. Specialized is messing with us! ;)
I have mine set for 35/45, 65/65, and 100/100. The difference between Eco and Trail is obvious but the difference between Trail and Turbo is astounding. Turbo is not just more power, the acceleration setting (non-adjustable) is aggressive. I tested it on flat ground, it is difficult to keep...
Not brave, just following the manual that notes a 34 is ok and a 36 can be installed if the chainguide is removed. I have more clearance than that, did you install a chainring that is specified for boost spacing?
IMBA can support and encourage eMTBs (class 1) as mountain bikes or go down the path of other groups that don't see the future. The local IMBA chapter is sponsored by the LBS who are selling every eMTB they can get. e is the future of recreational cycling, the manufacturers and the buying...
