Hi
boring, practical person here who used to own a shimano engine.
any chance you can get trek to detail out of warranty support for the engine and battery. Will they be rebuildable, will there be spares, will they assist 3rd party repair shops with technical help/spares etc etc. I *think* the...
Survey done, non Trek owner but interested in the Ex-e.
Didn‘t see any questions about motor/battery warranty/parts availability- this is my main emtb issue, I won’t buy amother shimano motor until they design in some rebuildability, which is a shame as the rise seems to be the current nearest...
The 60 is new but fazua motors have been around for a while, I won’t buy another shimano because of their out of warranty lack of support/lack of rebuildability. Having noticed that performance bearings don’t seem to do fazua I was wondering if fazua were a manufacturer like brose/Bosch - ie...
What’s fazua out of warranty motor maintenance like - any rebuildability/spares and third parties working on them.
im really, really keen on a sl emtb but only if it’s viable as a long term bike.
I can cope with bolt or key, I want to travel with my bike (so hotel, b&b, hostel, self catering), so I need the ability to recharge when I want so it needs to be easily removable, the bike can live securely in the car. It’s also likely to make long term ownership cheaper If you ever need a new...
wow, 5yr warranty - that would be fantastic, in the Uk it’s normally 2 years on the motor. If we got a 5 year warranty I’d still say I would be disappointed in the non repairability aspect but I reckon I could accept a max cost of £200 per year on the motor (*call a motor £1000 in the UK, so...
What about “ease of service” after the warranty expires ?
In your part of the world are there third party e motor repair shops starting up and if so do they repair out of warranty e8000 and ep8 motors ?
I‘m in the UK, there are third party repairers starting up but to my knowledge there aren’t...
Can we get a statement on the out of warranty rebuildability/maintainability on this motor please. (if there will be spares and if it’s going To be rebuildable by 3rd party specialists)
I use basic/std pogies. (*southish uk so down to maybe -3’c, maybe slightly more with windchill)
I find them and medium warm gloves notably warmer than just my proper fox or sealskin winter gloves (and they help in the rain) and as I can wear thinner gloves find controls a bit easier to work...
I cured mine by undoing all the headset/handlebar clamp bolts and retorquing as per manual settings.
(*but yes, a lot does seem to end up being the seatpost)
2d hand I’d do some checks on engine (and bike) spares availability and rebuildability, and check To see if they have bits I might need in stock/ can get bits off the internet (ie it helps if you can get the wheel bearing nos, the frame bearing nos, etc etc manuals , spare Derailleur hanger, etc...
Hi
currently on 700w levo, really enjoy it, however…..
elderly xc bimble rider, mainly following trails made up from rights of way on map
- don’t use boost that much, mainly pedal with motor off or in eco (15% assist), trail occasionally (hideous mud/headwinds or towards end as I’m getting...
I like you was a massive Shimano fan, loyal for about 30 years after starting off with deore dx 21 speed, so for an ebike went for an e8000 bike, 2000 miles later and massive bb wobble, replaced under warranty (at about 23 months) and was told that I wouldn’t get another one as it will be more...

top tip. when I tried using hope hubs in my levo the levo magnet required “modifying” , as the hope hubs pushed the magnet over a bit so it clipped the frame, so after...
