Welcome.
I know the area, having grown up in the next town over. Still have family there.
Up in the hills around there really feels like being in the middle of nowhere!
A good ol' 500Wh battery gets you a long way, and is enough for 90% of my riding. But it's not a whole day in the hills.
When I've taken my Cube or hired a Pivot for a day thrashing on the Long Mynd, I usually get 40 miles out of a 500Wh battery. Note: I am 95KG so, YMMV.
I have done several...
I like the look of schwalbe super Moto, but I run Continental speed kings on my 29er eMtb for long road rides. Quite a light race tyre but I run them with slime inner tubes, so it kinda balances out.
I'd say this depends on your current confidence and experience with bikes. My other half bought an ebike last year, after never really being much of a cyclist. So combining her lack of experience with how bikes handle (particularly at low speed or when getting on/off) and the weight, she fell...
Two conflicting factors in the second hand eMTB market. Firstly, tech is moving forward quickly, so the sort of people with money to spend on a good eMTB are more likely to want the latest tech than a slightly older good-quality 2nd hand bike. That will drive prices to drop quickly.
On the...
I invest in gold-rated d-locks and chains, but there's not a lot you can do if someone pulls a knife on you.
I really hope that more ebikes, and maybe electronic shifting like SRAM AXS, can be keyed to be useless if stolen. That would make a huge difference, much more so than trying to track...
Batteries are the new battle ground.
Not only capacity - great to see a standard 600+Wh option for Brose - but also allowing the bike manufacturers and consumers to buy standard components.
It's always bothered me when bikes come with proprietary batteries, as has been the case for Brose and...
Unfortunately a week (or more) seems pretty standard when you have to go back to a bike company or drive unit supplier to get support or parts...
It took Evans Cycles and Bosch nearly 3 weeks to sort my drive unit on a Cube.
So this delay is not unique to Focus.
Personal Experience - eMTB has made me fitter: More riding, more often, particularly through what would usually be my off-season in winter. After 18 months mostly on the eMTB, I now find myself doing far more acoustic MTBing too, so I'm getting some more intense cardio and anaerobic exercise...
Best of luck!
But be warned! eMTBing comes with it's own risks. You will cycle further and wider, and find many nice looking country pubs and tea rooms. DON'T STOP.
