I love Wharncliffe. Really good mix of trails and rides well all year round!
There's an area known as Wharncouver and this is where some of the easier trails are. If you park at the top between Wharncliffe and Grenoside you can follow the fireroads down to this and there's enough runs to just...
Thanks @militantmandy really useful info. Shuttles sound like a good idea to get me to the top then I can do some smaller loops until the battery dies and head back to town.
Guided ride sounds worth it, I'll have to see how the funds are doing but will try get along with them for a day or two...
I've got a trip to the Alps / Finale Ligure coming up in the next few weeks.
Rough plan is to drive down to Morzine, spend a few days to a week in the PDS area, then travel towards Finale Ligure, stopping off at Tignes/La Thuile/Pila on the way.
I may then stay on the France/Italy coast and...
Did you mean Hydrotals? That's their full mud tyre, the Argotals sit between this and the Krytotals
I guess the Hydrotals will be too slow running for the rest of the track, and Kryptotals not coping as well in the slop.
Should be a good race tomorrow!
Here's Gypsy glen, I can dig out a ride we've done on Strava. I seem to remember riding through Cardrona and up a fireroad to the start of it

Flat White is a good intro to the golfie side trails, it starts halfway up that side and it's a...
It'll definately feel a bit more comfortable on the rise for her
If you wanted to try any off piste Ho Chi Min is a good starter, quite rooty but flows well and isn't as steep as the others, Mast of Zorro is another good one.
Gypsy glen on the opposite side of the valley has a nice...
It's a good place to ride if you've never been but I wouldn't call it MTB Mecca - Think of it more as a trail centre with an uplift.
Good mix of trails, they run really fast and ride well in any weather. Uplift service has always been good when I've been, although they've sometimes finished by...
I'm not convinced, Maes lowers look like 38's to me.
@Renton both forks are good, I run 38's and they do feel a fair bit stiffer than 36's if that's what you want
Heading upto tweed valley tomorrow, riding glenbenna and whatever we can at inners while the EWS-E is on. Hoping to head over to Thornielee/Yair at some point then back to Golfie inners to ride and watch some racing
We were expecting slop so didn't bother washing the bike before but it's good! Anaheim and funkatronical are a bit greasy where it gets steeper but should be nicely dry by Friday
Anyway.... Little trip to the local last night. Getting pretty overgrown in places making it hard to see, hands are still stinging from all the nettles 🤷♂️
Wow some interesting riding through that field with all the kids playing at the end 🙈
This ones also good from 2:30, people jumping out of the way, some urban bollard slalom and a near miss with a push chair before a red light onto a road 😳
