I asked ChatGPT for ten pub quiz questions on the theme of "orange".
It complemented me on what an interesting question it was and printed off ten questions.
I then had to ask for the answers as well!
I then had to ask for Q&A for a British audience, not the obviously American audience the Q&A...
I thought that I'd give a chance to impress us to ChatGPT, an AI available on the web.
Question to ChatGPT
Disc brake pads on bicycles. When fitting new pads, it is a required procedure to "bed them in". This involves hard braking up to a score of times. As this is underway, the braking...
I may come to regret this but I ask you to conjure up your own picture.
Last time out, I was aware that something was not quite right in the shorts department. There was an unsightly bulge at the front, but also an odd slightly uncomfortable feeling in the saddle area. Anyway, I was too busy...
You have planted a seed of doubt. Now I need to know.
Does anyone know for sure whether bedding in the pads is essential for pad longevity as well as stopping power?
I wear Fox Ranger long pants, with Troy Lee Designs knee & shin guards underneath. They fend off all nettles & brambles. Brambles have vicious hooked thorns and will penetrate flesh quite easily and make a right mess if they drag. The straight and thin spines on Gorse are more fragile and would...
I have always believed so. The event I described served to reinforce that belief. I was riding alongside the same guy and I had no problems with my brake pads.
Are you asking a question because you want to know one way or the other, or are you expressing disbelief? You see, now I want to know...
I don't use a chain gauge.
The most consistently accurate method is to remove the chain, lay it on a flat surface, stretch it out and measure 100 links with a metal tape measure. It is dead easy to do and more than accurate enough. 100 links of new chain will measure 50 inches exactly. 50 and...
I can beat that! But it was pre emtb days. How about 12 miles in 90 mins?
A mate was coming over from Greece to see his Mum. I leant him my hardtail for a ride. I had just replaced the rear brake pads but didn't bed them in as I was in a rush. I meant to tell him to bed them in before we rode...
@merlin9807 Take a look at the Merida eOne-Sixty 9000 (brand new, 2022 or 2023).
It is a fully specced full power emtb that was £7400 when it came out in 2021. There are still some 2022 and 2023 about at £5k to £5.8k. Absolutely marvellous bike! I've still got mine (a 2021 model).
I cleaned the bike just before my last trip and I noticed that the rear caliper was moving!
Both bolts were loose!!!!
I absolutely could not tell when using the bike, before or after I tightened the caliper bolts.
PS: The front was OK. :giggle:
I believe that they also do a 3-bike option. But I know for sure that you can buy an add-on to the Velospace x2 that allows a 3rd bike. The total weight of bikes is limited though on the x2 and the x3 (to 60kg I believe).
I have a Kryptonite New York Noose, plus other stuff. See pic.
It is 1.3m long and the chain links are made from 12mm hardened hexagonal bar (you can get bigger). Crucially, at one end of the chain is the "noose" - a ring made from the same hex bar. It enables you to loop the other end of the...
I do! I've had two and so far, and during the last five and a half years they have been flawless. :)
I love the natural feel to the power delivery. When I was doing test rides in late 2018, it is that ride feel that was the significant feature that first attracted me to a Shimano-powered bike...
