Ah, you got me there! I didn't look up the spec of the bikes, I had assumed that they were similar enough for you to judge them as fit for your purpose.
For my purposes, I would want the 150mm minimum. You may be very happy indeed with the lower travel. Many very good riders make lower travel...
You need to know why they went bust. in the case of Wiggle and CRC, they were both owned by the same company who decided to withdraw a financial guarantee to the bank. Without that guarantee, they could not continue to trade legally. Why did the parent company do this? I read on here this week...
The winning argument!
It's newer and less likely to have age-related problems with the motor and/ or battery. And if you do, you have an expert close by.
It could be the motors, but I believe that it is much more likely to be rider weight (rider+kit+bike), differences in fitness, or wider and/or stickier tyres. And don't forget the impact of tyre pressures and the tread pattern on rolling resistance.
I don't know how many runs I have done on my Merida eOne-Sixty. But as at 13th May'24, I have done 2886 miles (4635 km) since 22nd Jul'21. I have had zero problems with the Shimano 630Whr battery and zero problems with the Shimano EP8 motor.
When I first got it, I could just about hear the...
@NO-emtb Find someone with a similar bike in your size and who lives in Catalonia and wants to visit Norway near where you live and do a bike swap. Sounds impossible, but people do it with houses. Think of it as AirBNB for ebikes! Put some effort in and this time next year you could be a...
I have found my way around the devastated area I mentioned earlier. It is rideable if I really wanted to but absolutely no fun at all! At least it's not preventing access to other aeras any more.
Here are a couple of pics to illustrate.
At least when Forestry England have a clearance, they...
@the202 That black & gold colour scheme never seems to get old. It always looks good to me.
One of my mates had an Orange Five done out in black & gold. It was the top of the range at the time and it looked absolutely fantastic! The Fox Factory Kashima stanchions just added to the overall look.
I am lucky to have found a very good local bike shop. It's in the next town, but close enough. He operates a booking system for any service work, unlike the LBS in my nearest town. That means that I get my bike back either the same day or the next. When the other LBS told me that he had a...
A trail I ride regularly is on the edge of an old coal-mining area. There used to be over 20 coal mines. Each one of them was pumping out colliery waste, known as slag in the UK. The waste was deposited in huge piles, known as slag heaps. Some of them were very large indeed. But that was many...
Just to ensure no misunderstanding... By using the phrase "limited by law .." I was referring to the level at which the pedal assist from the motor must stop (I could have been clearer at the time). My bike and I can go as fast as gravity and my leg power can provide. However, when riding on...
I have worked out how to avoid the really boggy bits (more of a quagmire) in the NCB area and still have a good ride. As at today I haven't had time to come up with anything to deal with the cleared area except ride around it. It looks as though special efforts have been made to prevent bikes...
