    Too much frame damage??

Bargain hard to get a price that you are comfortable to pay. Do what @Stihldog recommends and then ride the bike. Keep your eye on the repair and if you see cracks emanating from it (unlikely), then get the repair done properly. There are places that will do that and do it for a living. Some on...

    Possibly brought wrong forks

Subtracting 30% sag, the front end will be 7mm lower. That will drop the BB height by less than half that (2.5mm on my bike), depending upon the exact location of the BB along the wheelbase. It will make the head angle a fraction steeper. On my size large bike that would be 1.3deg. However...

Guided ride Sherwood Pines and Vicar Water Sat 15th Jun'24

The more the merrier! :) At present numbers at least. Twelve is a sensible maximum, otherwise the "train" gets too long; on one complex section the front of the train was waiting for the rear of the train to cross in front of them. Early on, I once had 19 turn up and that was a nightmare to...

Lets talk 'Mullets' - are they a benefit for short riders?

I'm 6'1" and my first 29er was an emtb. For the first time, my arse was getting buzzed by the tyre when I went down steep stuff. It was not a pleasant experience having mud and water forced through to my nether regions. The thought of a stone picked up by the tread being introduced into my...

Sold Trek Fuel EXe - Amazing Spec

I'm not looking for another bike right now, but if I was, I'd want to know what year and model it was, how many miles it had done etc, etc.

Guided ride Sherwood Pines and Vicar Water Sat 15th Jun'24

I was out there again today. All the trails are still grippy and not wet. Still a few puddles in the usual places but as before not many that are unavoidable. Pines seems to have an unbelievable ability to soak up rain during the tree & shrubbery growth season. Edited 12th Jun'24 Latest...

Bosch CX Race ltd motor failed at 230 miles

@Pazman I have had two Shimano-motored bikes since Jan'19. The first an e8000 and currently an EP8. I have not had a second's worry with either. No funny noises, no error codes, nothing. I know that I am not the only one. There was no detectable play in the crankshaft bearings on the last bike...

    Home Batteries / Solar

Be careful of using your car battery for home use as well. It adds to the charge/discharge cycles. The only way I would own an EV is to lease it, then I'd consider using it as a home battery. By the way, I can't see anyone staggering in to Sainsbury's with a typical 5.6 Kw-hr solar panels...

    Home Batteries / Solar

ChatGPT has been quite helpful. Here is one aspect that it dealt with, that of disposal. This is the first time I have seen a figure given to a disposal cost. The ChatGPT I am using is the 2021 Beta, so the prices are out of date. Hey! They might even be paying to take the batteries off your...

Levo Gen 3 Tire pressure on turbo levo comp carbo

This will depend upon the tyre width, tyres size, type of casing and so forth. Honestly, the best thing is to take a guess (guided by your current experience) and then ride the bike. Take a digital pressure gauge with you and a pump. Start with a higher pressure than you think would be...

    Shortening carbon bars

I read somewhere that if you don't know for certain how short to cut them, then just move the grips inwards along with any other bar furniture and ride the bike like that. You will soon find out where the best place is. Then you can cut. :)

    Lets discuss uphill crashing.

I have looped out a few times and then tumbled down the slope, usually with the bike on top of me, with the extra weight of an emtb adding a bit of extra hurt to the process. But I have not had too many problems crashing uphill for a year or so, except....... I have commented on this forum...

    Shortening carbon bars

@Peaky Rider Helpful post! :) My concern is the relatively inflexible nature of jubilee clips. I have not bought any recently, but all the ones I know about are metal. They have to be wound up fairly tight to not slip and the non-round shape they create may put too much crush stress on the...

I have a Canyon Grand Canyon E8 and i found this part on the floor and I can’t figure out where it belongs. Does anyone recognize it?

Someone in your household is playing games with you by leaving an interesting looking component underneath your bike? :)

Guided ride Sherwood Pines and Vicar Water Sat 15th Jun'24

I just got back from a day out at Pines with @Zagora. He couldn't make the guided ride, but he could do today. I was going anyway, so we rode together. I offered to do the same route as the guided ride next week and he was happy to follow my lead. The weather was kind and the trails were dry and...

    E bikes stands

II tried that but the whole bar was then through 90 degrees and the seat post end wouldn't fit. The two ends would not rotate with respect to each other. I didn't try to force it because I wanted to take it back for a refund and didn't want any scratches on it.

Black bikes are always cool. I like the stealthed-out decals on the fork and shock. Just need to find an all-black Mucky Nutz now. Or maybe turn it upside down! And now for the expensive one: Swap the Fox fork for a Rockshox and get black stanchions!
