Forget the shoes go with calf high waterproof socks like Sealskins or DexShell. They come in various thicknesses for warmth as well. Best investment I made.
Same issue here. Two things that helped me a lot. 1)When in downhill riding/attack position make sure your front pedal heel is down. This tends to shift the weight back giving both better control and less upper body strain. Amazing what a slight shift in heel position can do. There a few u...
You could be onto something here. Spray dirt. A non abrasive dirt like spray that makes your bike look like it's been through the muddiest trails but never left the comfort of your urban closet...

I personally would never buy a bike without going for a ride to check out the frame fit. Doesn't have to have to be exact same spec motor suspension or drive train but has to be the same frame. I tried a lot of bikes prior to buying my eMTB with no specific brand preferences. I found...
The e8000 is a great proven motor and would buy a bike speced with one without issue. If I had to buy an EP8 bike, i would wait a year for any bugs to work their way out but I rarely buy a first issue of of anything. If you find a bike you want and it has an e8000 go for it. I don't think you...
I hope not, means only one more year for me... met a guy on the trails 72 and absolutely hammering the downhills. It does take longer to heal, but it's all worth it.
That's how I read it. However, they set a precedence. If the upgraded motors have major issues like the earlier models they may offer extended warranties.
I've got the Merida e160 9000. The specialized was on the short list but when you look at bang for buck, you get a lot more with the Merida. 1000km in six months and no issues. Rides great and would buy another one in an instant.

It would be hard to define and enforce speed limits on trails. The question is where do you draw the line, general speed limits are a good reference some think they should be higher some lower. Your "marginal difference" represents a 20% increase, not really marginal when you look at it that...
Fully agree. All an increased limit will do is give the environmentalists and non-emtb trail users more ammunition to restrict MTB trail access. If you're on trails where you can do more that 25kph on uphills where assistance is typically required you probably should look for more challenging...
Would you rather have access to all trails at 25kph or limited access to trails at 32kph. I would prefer access to all trails even if it meant an even slower speed. If I wanted speed I'd buy a motorbike. I just want some assist up steep hills that I normally wouldn't make without stopping on...
I wouldn't buy any bike without a test ride unless there was a 100% refund policy. Geometries are so different between bikes and when spending over 6K why compromise. I tested 4 ebikes before purchase. I found the Merida and Levo to have similar fit which were quite comfortable, Trek frames...
Bicycle braking systems are governed by a countries legal Safety and Design requirements for vehicles for example in Australia:
AS-NZS 1927: Pedal bicycles - Safety requirements
2.14.2.1 Handbrake lever location: The brake lever for a front brake shall be positioned on the right-hand side of the...
All depends on how you look at e-bikes. One would assume more power also results in more power consumption so lower range or the need for heavier larger batteries. If power or speef is you only concern, why not buy a motor bike and be done with it. My reason for an e bike is simply to provide...
If it doesn't bother you don't worry about it. I hate the look of a scratched and chipped bike. I have invisiframe protection and helitape on most exposed parts which helps. I still get chips and scratches on some areas but I use touch up paint/nail polish to cover them up.
Just a note that my delicate Australian feet thank you for your suggestion. Bought a pair of medium weight DexShell socks locally available. Been wet, muddy and cool. Shoes soaked but feet dry and warm. Size was true to form and they are lined so no need for extra sock. Thanks again.
Sounds like you need two bikes. No matter what you have I don't think you will get 6 to 8 hours of riding even on eco and a larger battery. If mostly on smooth flat trails might as well use an analogue bike for that and get something that caters to your more aggressive type trail riding.
