Solved! Where the rimpact was sitting on the head of the valve, it had actually indented to shape so much that the insert was then covering the holes on the side of the valve, stopping the air from coming out. I can only guess the sealant was the stuff that had been adsorbed by the rimpact...
If you're near to Surrey Hills, then book a demo at the YT Mill and try a Decoy. I have a Shred. It's small for me, being 40mm shorter reach than my normal bike (Privateer 161) but it's an absolute riot on pretty much everything. At your height you might want to consider a large. The seat...
On my Decoy shred, I have Rimpact valves and inserts. On the front wheel, whenever I open the valve to check pressure, if I press the presta "button" (you know what I mean) sealant will leak out. After a couple of seconds, this then clogs the valve and makes it impossible to use the pressure...
The important thing it to get one with a flat face. There is very little for the socket to grab on to and if you use one that has a traditional rounded edge, you risk damaging the fork. As above, I got a Unior one, seems to work just fine.
I mulleted my Starling Murmur and found:
about -1 degree head and seat angle
about -10mm bb height
feet felt more vulnerable in that I was aware they were close to stuff, but it didn't seem to cause any issues
bike felt more "fun" but maybe that's because that's what i expected
corners felt a...
Generally, if riding by myself after work 20/25km and around 1000m over 1.5 hours. I generally don't ride the e-bike at the weekend as my friends all ride normal bikes, but if I do it will be something like 30/35km and 1200/1300m over maybe 5 hours. I usually do 2 e-bike and 2 normal rides per...
The one on my Decoy looks bigger than this, but they all seem to be like that so I'm just not worrying about it. I am very careful with washing and try not to directly spray (using low pressure hose) the area around the motor. If I pull the battery, there is nearly always some amount of mud /...
So, having now got properly used to this bike, something a bit odd (to my mind) has happened. Despite being 40mm shorter in reach, having less fancy suspension and being almost 10kg heavier, I am within 10% of my best times. What does this mean? Geometry is a lie? Weight doesn't matter? I...
This is very helpful stuff as I have been pretty disappointed with the Code Rs. Recently got the Shred and a Privateer 161, both came with Code R. Both needed bled on arrival and even after several bleeds (including by professionals!) they still seem inconsistent, sometimes pulling to the bar...
