Not possible. If the majority are intent to smash every uphill. Possible if they slow it down, aka a smaller more social group. I do manual, SL and FF bike rides. A SL to a FF is like a Manual to a SL. Just not possible to keep up, even if you are extremely fit
SL is pure trail bike, nothing enduro about it. even though it has 150 travel at the back. I have a SL and a SB140, even though the SB140 only has 140mm at the back vs the SL 150mm, its waaaay more capable, on DH only trails, i can consistently beat the SL on my Yeti
Honestly the geo on the...
i dunno in your country how the pricing is...but in my country XTR cassette is 1/2 the price of XX1, so we all run AXS RD with XTR chain/cassette, no issues.
Based on the fact that the TQ motor has been universally received by media and owners to be virtually silent? While the SL 2.0 will still be running the same mahle motor?
thats where the SL comes in, with fit frens, on trail mode, its a great workout and you would be tired out. i ride with national level riders, the type of ppl who come in podiums in races all the time, and a SL is perfect to chase them.
my first 2 ebikes were full fat Levos. then i moved to a SL, and i will never buy a FF ebike again. Dont need the weight, dont need the big battery, dont need all that power. Have booked a EXe 9.8 XT to replace my SL.
My group is the same...all went from FF levos to lightweight ebikes and now...
My LBS already has 5 orders since launch(compared to 6 rails sold this whole year), lightweight Emtbs are very popular depending on the terrain. not everyone does 6 hour rides and needs 700wh batteries
My entire group were ebike pioneers back in 2017/18...first full group in my country to have Levos. fast forward a few years, and we are all on SL ...and most have booked the Fuel Exe.
riders who want lightweight ebikes are diffrent from ppl who ride FF ebikes. We want as close to manual...
in my country, a SRAM XX1 cassette is 2.5x the cost of a XTR, so no one bothers running one. We all use shimano chain/cassette paired to AXS, works fine, have 2 bikes with that set up and both pass 1500km
yea, on a FF, you can "cheat" if you hit hard technical climb sections, because u can climb in any gear, the power will carry you over. You cant do that in a SL, you will stall out just like a normal bike
It sounds like gatekeeping, but i feel beginner riders should never start the hobby in a...
Lightweight ebikes arnt meant to be ridden the same way as FF ebikes. (owned 2 levos, currently on a SL). You will get used to the smaller battery and high power draw after a few rides.
Try not to leave it in turbo and riding at max power at all the uphills. After 2 years with my SL, i...
battery is not structural, we asked some spez engineers who were visiting our country. We wanted confirmation cos we were taking our levos to overseas bike park trip. so we took it out, and rode many many km with many crashes without the battery with no issues.
2018 levo
2019 levo
2020 SL
For my type of riding, i can never go back to a FF levo. Main reason being i ride with mostly manual riders and i alternate between my ebike and my manual 2-3x a week. Going from my 14kg manual to a 20+kg FF levo was not fun, the diffrence in weight was too much and...
Praxis carbon cranks, Lyrik Ult, stock rear shock, 27.5 santa cruz reserve carbon rims, Renthal cockpit, XTR brakes and groupset....dont see any compromises in my setup.
But you are moving goalposts...my initial reply was to your assertion that there were no SLs under 40lbs. ....now its 36?
