Yep, had my motor fail while I was over 10miles from home a while ago. What would normally be a gentle ride home was a real slog. Had to check to see if there was an issue with the brakes at one point...
Personally, I wouldn't go back. Ive caught the ebike bug and enjoy it too much. I just...
I do sometimes, but only as a spare. I wear rucksacks quite a lot while hiking, and don't mind it, but on the bike its a pain and I avoid it if I can.
I wonder what issues you may have with the wire connecting you and the bike?
Just my opinion, but I'd suggest looking at a dedicated ebike...
Did you pay by credit card?
As suggested earlier, I'd speak to them and ask them to find a quick resolution (swap out motor from stock) or you'll ask for a refund. Threaten to get the credit card company involved. It sounds like you've been more than reasonable.
I'd start putting things in...
It doesn't surprise me - the EP8 is meant to have more power than the E8000 (yes, i know officially they're both 250w, but...) and that takes extra energy.
I would be somewhat miffed in that situation to say the least...
I'd be tempted in the first instance to ask them to swap the motor out with another bike they have in stock. If not, ask for a refund as the product isn't fit for purpose. That may get them to sharpen their thoughts.
I've just had to wait 6 weeks for a new motor to arrive from Japan. I think I got lucky as someone else I know who's motor needs replacing but still (just) works has been told the replacement won't be here until September now!
There seems to be very limited supplies of replacement parts...
Sounds the exact same issue as when I put a new 8000 motor in the bike. I can't help I'm afraid, but wish you the best of luck and would be very interested to know the resolution.
My suggestion would be to return to the bike shop and get them to fix it as its a brand new bike.
I can only speak for going from a 180 to 203 disk, but found that made a big difference. I'd imagine similar for 203 to 220.
I think the iceteh rotors will only make a difference if you're currently overheating the brakes, otherwise its the same braking surface. I've also heard they're a bit...
If I have the PCE02 hardware, can I adjust the market settings and circumference without needing downgrade the firmware or buy a licence for the ST unlocked app an an E7000?
Interestingly, I've just had a new motor in which has later firmware installed and the battery is now showing 89% health after 60 cycles when it was showing 79% before...
As an update, I tried it with 2 E8000 motors and neither would turn on. I managed to connect to the display (via Bluetooth) by plugging the charger into the bike which then powered the remote switch and screen. I could see the serial number of the motor, so don't think there was a connection...
My solution was to buy a spare battery. And then a second.
In all seriousness, I try to keep in trail as much as possible as I knew otherwise I'd just use turbo all the time and then want more power. Having the motor die 15miles from the house did help reset my view on the assistance given...
My bike has been in for a warranty claim on the motor for the last month, and was told the other day the new one won't arrive for at least another month. Someone I know bought them selves a spare E8000 (new) motor off of ebay recently, and offered it to me to tide me over.
I've just tried...
I've got an old wheel which needs some spokes replacing after some snapped. Insurance bought me a new wheel (there are a few buckles in the rim too) and have been meaning to give it a go. Like so many projects, as I don't NEED to do it NOW, it gets put off.
Must get round to it one rainy day.
It definitely has side lights (I have one). My guess is the towbar electrics aren't working properly as they often corrode out where they're exposed to all of the road crap thrown up at them.
