Thanks for the detailed explanation. I wasn't sure if there were more chips on the back of the board.
I'd be surprised if they used a dedicated chip for the BMS - ASICS are usually far more expensive than a micro processor and less flexible. I could of course be wrong, but just strikes me as...
Very interesting, and good work!
Strange that enough of the BMS is working to be able to monitor and report battery state, but not communicate correctly with the charger.
Have you thought about shorting the blown fuse to see what happens?
Unfortunately its not quite as simple as that (wish it was). Really, you want a stable fixed resistive load and then measure voltage and current over time to give you the power output. Unfortunately the battery outputs are electronically switched which makes that very difficult to do. I would...
True, although very unlikely it is anything but a direct percentage of original capacity.
That doesn't mean that the reported value is correct of course.
What I don't get is if it was dog owners, why they would think its sensible to leave sharp objects on the floor for their dogs to step on? A puncture is annoying, impailed dogs feet another level!
You could try using your multimeter set to continuity to test which connectors shirt on the bike when turned on and then replicate that on the battery with a wire?
NB: not advising doing this as it could damage the bike or battery, but that would be a way to do it. Just be aware of the risks...
The first one is that you are trying to use a tester for lead acid batteries, whilst you have a Lithium based battery. Unfortunately the two won't work together.
The shimano battery has some electronic switches inside which disconnect the terminals unless plugged into the bike. I 'think you can...
DMR V12 for me, although I need to get some more as I've ripped the pins out on a poorly placed rock (nothing to do with my lack of skill) so may look at the vaults this time.
Agreed.
I don't normally take notice of anyone who isn't happy with me being there, although it happens very rarely and don't think I've ever really had any sarcastic comments. I always slow right down if passing people, and if they haven't heard me just wait behind before asking if they would...
I've made the stupid mistake of tracking my Emtb costs. Really wish I hadn't now...
I think I have the common disorder (commonly found in the male species) where I can only have expensive hobbies. Think I might try knitting for a change.
I tend to have music on when cycling (running bone conducting headphones) so don't tend to notice it too much. When I don't have music on it annoys me for a while and then I forget it.
Just over 100miles on the new chain just hosing off after each ride and then spraying with GT85. Riding through slop in the forest which completely covers the chain in the first few 100m.
The drivetrain looks like new. All the crap just washes straight off by running the hose over it. No...
I found an offer on brake pads that after a few beers I couldn't ignore. I may have to increase my riding a little to make full use of the bargain though.
Should only take me 10yrs or so to get through them.
