I have to agree with you. Here in the US power sports dealers are starting to carry emtbs and when you see a levo in the same shop as a KTM but with a higher sticker price, there is something wrong. I'm hoping as Yamaha KTM gasgas and Husqvarna join the segment they will keep their prices low...
I did a visual test fit for one on a medium alum without the cage hack, and the SDU looked like it had a LOT of interference. I returned it without trying to make it work as it looked like it wasn't going to fit even with the hack.
Listened to their latest ebike podcast and was pretty unimpressed with their knowledge and comprehension of the segment. Pink bike will definitely not be my go to for ebike eval or news
I also installed an angle headset. Mine is at 1.5 degrees. It was the best mod to the bike. I'm on a small so the long chain stay felt extra long. Now it feels more balanced as the front center increased. It's also better downhill.
After that a dvo coil with progressive spring was the next...
I have a DVO coil with a progressive spring on a trance and it's awesome....but I needed the heaviest prorate spring they offer and I'm only 180lbs so if you are really heavy I would go air
Can't compare it to a Bosch but over the cutoff limit the Yamaha is a bit draggy and harder to pedal. The yam is a great motor with a lot of torque and requires very little cadence to get good power out of it.
I was talking about the new reign that was just released, and from leaks what the new trance will have. Which is what I thought we were discussing, the emtbs. That new motor has been described, in the marketing materials, as being developed with Yamaha to fit the maestro suspension better. It...
Have you checked the swingarm chain stay bolt on the drive side behind the sprocket? I read on here that many were loose and eventually caused damage if left in checked....I checked mine and it was loose but not horrible....not sure if it would cause the squeek but worth checking
Who do you ride with? If you're riding mostly with regular mtbs then the SL is perfect. If you are riding with mainly FF, then go FF.
I currently have both....I like the FF better but do find myself reaching for SL when riding with regular bikes or on solo rides where I want some more...
I read a line somewhere and it sounded like they worked with Yamaha to build it around the maestro suspension. And from the images of just the motor it very much looks that way. Very nicely integrated for a complex suspension that works really well (I have a levo SL also and can't help but...
